Audio cable snapped -

Buy a new cable. I don't know what the application here is, but if you have the capacity, go to either HDMI, digital or optical, rather than straight RCA cables.

Headphones keep going quiet.

I would return them and either get a new one from them or another manufacturer.

Bought my headphones in South Africa, now living

Hi,

Welcome to Fixya. You can check if the power output in South Africa and UK is the same. If you have 110 or 240V in africa check if the Voltage in UK is 110 or 220V aswell. If it is the same it only means that the adaptor is bad. If you can go to a store in UK find an adapter that is compatible with the headphone you can test it and see if it will work.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Are you using AV cables from your DVD player to your TV? (the yellow, red and white ones) If you are the is a way to do this, since you have no other outputs at all is you will have to make one. With the purchase of a couple adapters and an additional av (audio only cord which is red and white) you can do this. The first adapter you need looks like this. http://www.globalgrabber.com/product/4507930-5mm-stereo-plug-2-rca-plugs-jacks/ You will remove the red and white AV cords from the back of your TV that run from the DVD player and insert them in the adapter to their respective colors on the adapter. Then you need to purchase a double female AV adapter that looks like this .http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=double+female+av+adaptor&hl=en&prmd=ivns&biw=1600&bih=799&bav=on.2,or.&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=14119505288159192113&sa=X&ei=S-V1TZPDJIKglAexv-ybCA&ved=0CI0BEPMCMAU# Then you need to put that adapter on the one you just installed so you can add the new AV cord onto it and run the new cord to the TV.That completes the sound of the DVD's back to your TV. Now for your headphones. You will need a double female 3.5mm jack input to put between your headphones and the remaining jack on the adapter. It looks like this http://www.buy.com/prod/3-5mm-female-to-female-stereo-audio-cable-coupler/q/sellerid/23962916/loc/101/216778563.html Play a movie and enjoy. This is the only way to do what you want with the current setup you have. These adapters and wires can all be purchased for less than $10 off of E-bay. If your not using AV cords then the only other way to do it with the current setup you have is --
You can purchase a reasonably priced receiver and hook your DVD, cable, and TV to it as well as your headphones. With no outputs on your TV there will be no way to hear your DVD's through your headphones. You can also purchase a very reasonably priced shelf speaker stereo. Many made in recent years have some audio inputs and of course inputs for your headphones.

Headphones Panasonic

if these are older headphones it's likely that the batteries have gone bad or are defective, if this is a new unit, (aside from returning it for working one) it could still be the batteries, but the other likely issue is the charging unit is defective. you could test with a volt meter to see if it's getting juice. you could also have a short in the headphones somewhere.

I am attempting to use my sennheiser rs 110

What are you plugging your 2 RCA connectors (from the headphones) into on the television?
You are correct, usually:
White = Left Red = Right

In this case
Black = Left Red = Right
Not sure....guess some manufacturers need to be different...
Back to the issue,
You to need to connect the Black to White and Red to Red to the TV BUT you need to make sure you are connecting to an OUTPUT and not to an INPUT on the TV. Most newer TV's do have an "audio out RCA jacks" on the TV but not all. It should be labeled at the connector if it is an output, or just another input. You can always consult the TV manual to be sure.

Few things you can do to test
  • Does your TV have a "headphone jack", use the adapter (2 RCA female - 3.5mm connector) to plug into the headphone jack and see if there is sound
  • Connect the Black and Red RCAs from the headphones directly to the another output, like a DVD player, CD Player etc....

I hope this helps,
Magoo
