Panasonic DMR-EZ47V DVD Recorder/VCR - Page 4 Questions & Answers
Dvd says "no read" when I insert disk.
I hope I am not stating the fact you have pressed play when you run the cleaning Disk through the player on the DVD Drive.
You would not be the first person to forget to change to the DVD drive & ensure the cleaning DVD run properly.
If it cannot read the cleaning DVD then sorry to say I cannot help you any further, Best Wishes I hope someone can give any more information, as I do not know anything else to try except replace the machine.

How to replace dvd assembly in panasonic dmr-ez48v
It is not advisable to do the replacement of the DVD assembly oneself if you do not have the correct tools and knowledge of doing this kind of work. The components and mechanisms are very fine/intricate, also there could be damage to pc boards during removal-replacement of wiring and most important is that one can get "seriously" harmed if not following "standard LASER precautions" during the complete replacement operation. I have a Panasonic DMR-EZ47VEB
U61 is a common fault in the Panasonic DVD recorders. It is generally a failure of the DVD-RAM drive and/or the digital controller board (in some cases it is both and both must be replaced together as a module). Unfortunately these are not repairable at individual component level; they would most likely need to be replaced and fitted by a qualified technician in an authorised Panasonic service centre. The only trouble here is the potential cost(s) involved (such as labour, the DVD drive, etc) - could be expensive and/or uneconomical. However, you can always submit your unit to a repair shop for a quote and a second opinion (on the costs of the replacement part(s) as well as estimated labour charges and the extent of the problem - this allows you to make an informed decision afterwards to get this fixed, but it is up to you.
The cost of a new DVD-RAM drive (if that is the actual problem, and not the board it is connected to) is quite high; anywhere between $130 US (for XVY1961 to suit DMR-ES35V/DMR-EZ47V models) up to $450 AU for the same device plus labour costs should you choose to have it replaced.
I assume you like your unit and want it working properly. If you do decide to deal with an authorised Panasonic service centre, ensure that when the work is completed they provide a detailed report, and some sort of warranty on that repair, especially if it involved replacing the DVD drive. Unless you have an extended manufacturer's warranty on this; which means it won't cost you anything to have it assessed and repaired fully.

L need a multi region code for a panasonic
Panasonic DMRs cannot be unlocked for muliti region simply by entering a code form the normal remote or front panle controls.
Panasonic machines require a special remote control in order to make them multi region. Panasonic dealers will unlock your machine for you but will charge you - this is expensive.
Alternatively, if you search eBay you will find devices that will unlock your machine that can be purchased or "rented", for considerably less than a dealer will charge.

Recordering with directv
You can record either the channel 3 or channel 4 output channel from the DirecTV box or connect the analog audio and video outputs to the recorder's inputs and use the In1 or In2 inputs.

Hard drive recorder
Remove the unit's power cord and hold the POWER button while plugging the power cord back in. This will unlock most recorders.
