Describe your DMR-EZ47V DVD Recorder

Hello there,
First of all, the RC1 means region code 1. Nothing will work on the Panasonic DMR-EZ47V DVD Recorder / VCR Combo as long as it shows that code.
The solution is to get the Panasonic DMR-EZ47V DVD Recorder / VCR Combo region code free.
Panasonic DMRs cannot be unlocked for muliti region simply by entering a code form the normal remote or front panel controls.
Panasonic machines require a special remote control in order to make them multi region. Panasonic dealers will unlock your machine for you but will charge you - this is expensive.
Alternatively, if you search eBay you will find devices that will unlock your machine that can be purchased or "rented", for considerably less than a dealer will charge.
Hope this information was helpful to you. All the best. Elect_Comp

Hello, my remote for my Panasonic DMR-EZ47V DVD

Actually, you are sort of correct, in a sense, RC1 means remote command mode 1 (the default mode of your combo unit). There is one way you can try to fix this:

Remove the batteries from the remote, press any button on it to clear its existing memory buffer, then re-insert them or replace them with new ones. While unit is on (no DVDs or tapes in it), point the remote at it - press and hold 1 and ENTER/OK buttons together for 10 seconds, then release.

This should (in most cases) restore full remote command operation to your combo unit - if when you press a channel button on it, and the unit's front channel changes, the remote is now functioning as it is meant to.

The good news is this will constitute any workshop repairs or costs (except perhaps new batteries for the remote if required).

I hope this helps a bit.

Factory Reset

To reset the recorder to factory defaults as if it was just removed from the box - leave the recorder on then press and hold the channel up and down buttons at the same time until it says "Bye" on the display. When it shows the clock it is off - wait a few seconds then turn it back on - you should see the initial setup asking you to choose a language.

Note: You may have to flip down part of the front panel to reveal the channel buttons.

The unit is connected to

hi,

You need a phono pre amp between the Recorder and LP. The audio out put of LP player is very low. that why the volume is very low. You should amplify it using a phono pre amp and then connect to the recorder's input.

I have a Panasonic DVD

I have the exact same model with the exact same problem. The motor on the dvd drive went bad. No spin = no work :-( Good news is that the dvd drive is easy enough to replace. Bad news is that I can't find a replacement drive - not a standard PC style drive...

M y panasonic dmr48 says hello, wait then bye and

Failure of the startup circuit in the switchmode power supply; usually due to several components including IC1 (prefixed with STR - a 5-pin device). If the unit constantly displays HELLO, then BYE, shutting down, with no user operation available, then it is likely to be the IC on the 12V rail in the SMPS which is the main suspect.

Unfortunately, this cannot be repaired at user component level; it has to go to an authorised Panasonic appliance service centre for professional attention. (It may either involve the technician replacing various components, including the IC, or simply replacing the entire PSU PCB as a module to save time). It is safer for a qualified technician to undertake this type of repair, rather than the consumer/owner (that way the owner can be completely assured the job is done properly and will last beyond a day).

Your best bet is to submit the unit to your nearest repair centre for a quote, and a second opinion (on the exact nature of the problem(s) and the time/expense involved - including testing the rest of the unit to be sure nothing else is amiss), then you can make a positive decision afterwards as to what action you wish to take in this matter. It could be expensive whichever way you go but it is not unfixable, and if it is confined to the PSU board, you might be lucky in terms of the overall costs. Insist on up-to-date progress reports as required if you do go ahead with getting this fixed. Up to you.

You should not pay a repair bill without an assured, written guarantee signed by the technician that did the job, and which contains the company's official letterhead at the top.

Try to get this one fixed economically and to an agreed repair cost. If the workshop has an excellent reputation for customer satisfaction, you shouldn't be without your combo unit for very long. These are great combo units generally.

How do you program into the dvd that you want it

You don't, you just press the FORWARD button on remote during DVD playback to 'fast forward' (pressing this button a second time during playback increases forward scan speed). The forward and reverse buttons have 'SLOW/SEARCH' printed above them on the remote. The other buttons next to them are the PREV/NEXT buttons (SKIP/INDEX).

DVD playback speed/skip/search is mostly a manual user function; it cannot be auto set.

U61 keeps on being displayed have left the machine

U61 is a common and annoying error code with this series of DVD recorder. It generally indicates a failure with the DVD-RAM drive and/or its digital controller PCB (the small board which the drive is connected to via ribbon cables - located under it).

The problem with this repair is if you submit the unit to an authorised service centre, they may need to replace both the digital PCB and the DVD-RAM drive, add labour costs on top = very expensive/uneconomical.

Nevertheless, you can always submit unit and obtain a quote on the overall likely costs (and get a second opinion from a technician to be sure of the exact fault(s) and service required); this allows you to make a positive decision to go ahead and get it fixed or not. They also may tell you what exactly failed in your unit and how long it will take to fix. Unless you are tech. savvy and you understand how these units function, do not undertake to order and fit parts yourself.

Your best bet is to get a workshop quote from an authorised Panasonic service centre (if there is one near you) - then decide on an appropriate course of action after that. The good news is that it is a fixable problem; the bad news is it can be very expensive.

I can't seem to be able to fast forward any

Hi Henry,

  1. Usually DVD players DVD players come along with remote controls which have fast forward buttons which have the icon as ">>" .
  2. All you need to do , is press the button as per your requirement of fast forwarding.
  3. If you press the one, you would get a message as x2 on the TV screen and if you again press it , it would display x3 and if you press the button again it would show x4 , that is the maximum speed you can have usually for fast forwarding.
  4. So the solution is to keep pressing the button multiple times to change the fast forward speed.

Hopet his helps ...Your feedback would be appreciated.

It does no obey to any commands other than

RC 1 or DVD 1 is the unit's default remote command mode. You can try the following with the remote:

While the unit is on, pick up the remote, then press and hold [ ENTER/OK ] and the number [ 1 ] button together for 5 - 10 seconds, then release. Repeat the procedure if it makes no difference and the unit still ignores the remote. If it doesn't work, try new batteries, then repeat the above.

{ You can reset the unit if necessary (press and hold [ CH UP ] and [ CH DOWN ] button together for 5 - 10 seconds on the front panel (not the remote), until 'SETUP' appears in the display). }

Hopefully this should help a bit. You should not need to continuously reset either the main unit or the remote.

Panasonic DMR-EZ47V DVD Recorder /

Hi,
Yes, you can connect an HD set-top box to the Panasonic recorder and record from it, but I will need to know the model number of the set-top box to be able to tell you exactly how to connect and how to record:

If your set-top box has a S-Video OUT port, you will be able to record both HD and SD (standard definition / non-HD) channels. If it does not have S-Video OUT, you will only be able to record SD channels. The Panasonic recorder only has S-Video and composite video IN sockets. S-Video will carry an HD signal, but composite will only carry an SD signal.

If you can let me know the model number, I can draw a connection diagram for you and let you know which settings to use on the player for recording.

Please reply to me with this information by clicking on "Add a Comment" below your question.

Thanks,
BElectric
