My amana upright freezer was working fine, but
Hello....First...when you transported the freezer...you must sure the unit stays in the vertical position and not laying on it's side...back..or front....If the freezer is making buzzing noises...adjust the thermostat setting down until the buzzing stops...and increase the setting gradually until the desired temp is reached...it could take 24 hours for it to stablize...I hope this was helpful.....PEACE.......
Food is frozen, ice cream is soft
Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. Gary, I have seen this a lot myself and I have asked many people about this occurrence. The ice cream usually goes soft when the freezer goes into defrost mode. I would say this is what happened here. It always puzzled me and I finally asked around. I was confused because sometimes it was froze and sometimes it was soft. I hope this helps you out.
My bottom freezer amana refrigerator
Refrigerator making clicking noise compressor not running.
The clicking could be the start relay. If the start relay is bad, the compressor will not start and you will hear a clicking noise in 2-5 minute intervals. The clicking noise is the overload cutting the compressor off when it overheats from trying to start with a bad start relay. To find out if this is bad first unplug the refrigerator. Remove the lower cover from your refrigerator. Then take the cover off that is on the side of the compressor, you will see wires going to this. Now you should be able to see the start relay plugged on to the side of the compressor and unplug it. Now the best way to tell if it's bad is to shake it. If it rattles, it's bad and needs to be replaced. If not, most of the time it's ok. But rather than saying the compressors bad, you might want to replace it anyways because it does not cost much. A quick check on the compressor is to remove the start relay. You will see 3 pins connect a multi meter set for continuity. You should have continuity between any of the 3 pins. If you do not the compressor is bad. Also check from each pin to a good ground on the cabinet. There should be no continuity if there is the compressor is bad. If you replace it and it doesn't work then the compressor is bad and you'll need to call a repairman. (Note that compressors are very costly and are normally not worth fixing). You can enter your model # at Refrigerator clicking for diagrams and illustrations or to purchase a start relay. A 3 in 1 start relay will also work fine.

Hi,
Please check your compressor and capacitor for malfunction. Check also the current draw and compare to your manual. If you got lower ( very low ) current draw reading , you problem with compressor. It may run out of refrigerant and need to top up.Also check your thermostat setting adjust to medium or a little bit colder.
Freezer down won't stay shut
I called Amana and they would send me a part for $77 but they weren't sure it would solve the problem so I purchased a bungie cord for fifty cents that holds the door shut. It is a bit inconvenient but it workis for me!
I am thankful that Amana doesn't make autos!
Fan replaced but need to
If your fan wire connects to anything with the fan it would be the neutral. You don't want line supplying voltage to the heater except in defrost mode. If it has to connect to the fan make sure you connect to the common (neutral). Good luck
My copressor won't start. relay works fine in
HAVE YOU TRY A 3-N-1 COMPRESSOR BOOSTER|? YOUR LOCAL APPLIANCE PARTS STORE SHOULD HAVE THEM. TELL THEM THE SIZE OF YOUR FRIDGE AND COMPRESSOR AND THEY SHOULD BE ABLE GIVE YOU THE RIGHT ONE. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE 3-N-1 AND CONNECT TO THE COMPRESSORS. BUT CONNECT THE TWO BLACK WIRES TO A EXTERNAL POWER(GET AN EXTENSION CORD AND CUT IT, WIRE NUT THE TWO WIRES TOGETHER). PLUG IT IN, IF THE COMPRESSOR KICKS OFF, YOU HAVE A BAD COMPRESSOR. IF IT RUNS WITHOUT KICKING OFF, THAT MEANS YOU ARE NOT GETTING POWER TO THE OVERLOAD RELAY TO TURN KICK ON COMPRESSOR. CHECK YOUR TEMP CONTROL INSIDE FRIDGE, AND THE DEFROST TIMER(MIGHT BE STUCK IN DEFROST)
