Minolta Compact AF 8 binocular continually focussing

My Binos are doing the same thing, I think it is some fixed mode it is stuck in. Anyone know how to get is back to normal working? Maybe the big AF button is stuck on?

Help please as I can't find my instruction manual.

8x25 minolta compact bionoculars center focus knob

They don't make these things easy to take apart, or fix. Here's your best shot- take it into a camera repair shop, and see what they say. Some tech might know what you have to do to get it apart, or if it can come apart without damage or special tools.
Unfortunately, only the repair techs know how, and there aren't too many (if any) of them, since they often just charge a set amount and send a refurbished or new pair to the customer.
Wish I had a more specific answer, but good luck to you, and with just a bit, you'll figure this out.

I have a Minolta Compact

I just bought a pair of this model and had the same problem. l muscled the focus knob repeatedly right to left and back until it finally began to move ever so slightly but progressively until it rotated freely from stop left to stop right. Very good optics and ficus range complimented by adjustable diopter. Had it not given in to my stubborn strong thumb finger grip efforts, I would have resorted to a solvent lubricant. Glad it wasn't necessary. Mike-Florida

Left side cloudy

This can be due to two reasons . The first being a condensation of moisture within the lens assmebly which can also produce a misty layer on the lens thereby lowering the vision levels.

If so you can keep the binoculars with packages of chemicals that absorb moisture. Moisture-absorbing chemicals include silica gel, activated alumina, anhydrous calcium sulfate and molecular sieves. These chemicals can be difficult to find. Your best bet is to find an industrial chemical supplier or contact your local high school or college science department.

Sprinkle baking soda on the area that is covered with moisture. Baking soda will absorb the moisture. Secondly it can be due to fungus developing within the lens . This normally happens when the unit is stored and specialluy not exposed to SUNLIGHT. You can expose to sunlight and see if the fault changes. Also if the binocular lens has to be clean then you will need to remove and clean the lens and the assembly before it is sealed back.

Binocular Loss Of Fluid

I never figured out how to fix it but I bought them at REI and they were able to find the receipt and get a warranty repair. One problem is Minolta no longer makes binoculars so a service center takes care of warranties. The Minolta site has details.
