My refrigerator won't stay cool but my freezer works fine

You have something wrong with the vent going from the freezer to the fridge. You probably have a defrost problem and ice is blocking the vent that goes from the freezer and comes out in the roof of the rerigerator compartment. Replace your defrost timer and bimetal.

Water started pouring out of

Cindy, it’s either the water inlet valve that fills your ice maker or the ice maker itself that is bad. The ice maker itself controls the valve. It should come on for about 7 seconds to fill the tray. The valves do fail but not as often as ice makers fail. Its also possible that the fill tube to the ice maker is blocked with frozen water but since it made one tray that is unlikely. If you know someone that knows how to test the valve it would eliminate the decision of replacing the ice maker or the valve. Otherwise I would recommend changing the ice maker first. Hope this helps.

HI, I have a KSRL25FRSS00 side by side. The

There is a heater in the ice tray that is supposed to thaw the cubes a little bit so they don't stick to the edge of the tray. When the heater does not work the ice sticks and the motor wont dump them out. There are many people that have this problem and are searching for answers as to what to do and what could be causing this problem. It seems to be weird that the freezer is working fine and the fridge side is not. Why would the coldest side be good and the warmer side not?

The answer to these questions lies in the way the freezer/fridge combo works. The freezer is where the cooling coils are located. Then air is moved over the coils and circulated through the fridge side by a small blower or fan. The problem arises when the air is not circulated for some reason.

The reasons the air is not moving is usually two reasons
  1. The fan or blower has failed.
  2. The coil is covered over with ice and blocks the air flow.

The first reason is pretty simple to fix, you simply replace the air circulator and things are good again.
The second reason can be more difficult.
1. The timing device that runs the defrost cycle of the refrigerator is defective.
2. The heater coil that melts the water is shorted or not working

Usually the first thing to check is the heater coil. If there is resistance through the coil then most likely it is still good.
The timing device can be an advanced defrost control board or a mechanical timing device.
If the heater coil checks out to be good then the problem should be the timer.

For most situations, unplugging the refrigerator and allowing it to defrost on it’s own will get you going temporarily, till parts can be shipped to you. That will melt the ice and give you a few days or a couple of weeks till it ices up to the point where it will not work again.

So you can see here, the problem can usually be traced to one of three things.
  1. The fan or blower
  2. The timer device
  3. The electric heater coil
By methodically checking these parts you can isolate your problem and fix it.

Take care.

Kitchenaid superba frig.past 2 days high pitched over temp light alarm goes off every few hrs in between reset we cleaned coils temp in freezer seems fine but frig is not please help

May be frozen up or plugged up. Remove all food. Unplug it and open the doors. Leave for 24 hrs. Clean up any water. Clean out the tray underneath. Usually access from the front if you can pop off the trim panel under the doors. Pull it out. Remove the back. Inspect for large amount of debris. Check any cooling fins etc. use a vacuum with a hose to clean it all out. Plug it back in and try it.

No ice.... refrigerator getting warm..... freezer also getting warm

here are a couple of things to check. First look at the back inside wall of the freezer and see if it is getting coated with frost or snow. If yes, you probably have a problem with the defrost system usually the defrost heater burns out first. Once you replace the heaters, all the excess frost has to be melted off the cooling coils behind that wall. A hair dryer works well for this. Another thing t check is the fan motor that is back behind that same wall. If the fan stops for any reason--- you loose cooling on both sides.

We have water underneath our freezer and inside on the bottom shelf

You probably have a clogged drain line. Look for a drip pan at the bottom of the fridge; it should have a hose that drains into it. Thaw out the fridge like you did before, but this time use an air compressor, bicycle pump, or whatever and try to force air back up that hose to clear the clog.

Change the water filter

I believe that this is an automatic warning to get you to replace the inline water filter located in the back of the refrigerator side up near the top. This sells water filters at 30+ dollars a pop. There is a procedure in your manual to replace the filter, but you could just reset the warning by holding the "filter reset button" for 3 seconds. that button is on the front door of the machine.
