I have a dyson hand held that shuts off after just

yeap..... i just found a fix for this ,, its mad how easy it is to fix as well...and it works 100%,,,
now dyson implemented a filter magnetic switch if u take your filter off you will see a small magnet in the corner,, u will notice where the magnet is behind it is rased platic,, now,,that the problem on the main board the transistor that picks up magentic signal from the filter is dud,!
dont ask me why it happens,, its a pain i know.,.
now take off collection pot for dust now take battery off.

now where the serial number is theres 2 hex screws that need taking out..

now u will see a small pcb board.. remove with one tiny security screw holding it in,, once removed pull both red plug off thats the digital motor plug.. and white plug which is vcc..to battery,, once u have done this pull the board down and back gently. as there is a long bit of board that goes up the back of the dyson plastic be very carefull pull this out.. now the long and thin pcb board that is hidden is what we need there is a tiny transistor,,, we need to remove this carefully..once removed,, we solder a thin wire from 2 point A+C need to be soldered together with a thin piece of wire, it will not harm the motor.. as long as u keep it clean,,

these points corolate to the transistor,,

A

B C

SOLDER AND A+C WITH A FINE PIECE OF WIRE NOW,, AND WALLAH... fixed put it all back together again,,, charge the battery,, and your away,,, working again,, if not u have other faults.. but 99% fix this with flashing red led,,,!!

Green light on DC44 but nothing is happening

Hi Emma, it's Jack at Dyson. I'm sorry to hear your DC44 Animal doesn't seem to be working correctly. If the green LED indicator on the machine lights up, but the machine itself doesn't run, this suggests the battery is flat. It could mean that it's not recharging correctly when connected to the docking station. It would be worth temporarily disconnecting and removing the charger cord from the docking station and plugging it directly into the machine - the machine should recharge fully within 3.5 hours. If the machine then works as normal the charger cord may not have been corrected fitted to the docking station. If you'd like further advice from our experts after you've given this a try, please call the Dyson customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

Hi, my Dyson DC16 works fine but after removing from charge base following recharge the red and green lights remain lit and the unit will not operate until i remove the battery and reconnect to vacuum

If it is within the warranty period get Dyson to replace it. If not, live with it until it fails completely, then buy a Hoover. Your computer board is starting to fail. That's not repairable.

My dc16 dyson root vacuum stopped working abruptly

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial. Most Dyson vacuums have a built in safety system that stops the machine if it begins to overheat. This usually happens because the filter needs washing or your machine is blocked. If your machine turns off on its own, unplug it and leave it for at least an hour to cool down. Remember to check the filter and look for blockages before re-starting. You can purchase a wide variety of high quality Dyson replacement parts for your Dyson vacuum direct from Think Crucial with free shipping and an exclusive 10% coupon for Fixya.com readers, use code: FIXYA10 https://www.thinkcrucial.com/search?type=product&q=dyson I hope this was helpful. Red light flashing constantly on dc16 when on

I had a similar problem when I bought an after market 2Ah battery. Would stay solid red for a few seconds then flash red. I believe my problem was that the battery had gone into "sleep mode" I.e. it was discharged to the point that it "sleeps" in order to protect itself. So......I simply attached a domestic DC multi adapter to the terminals on the battery that are marked + and - (the 2 outside terminals on a DC16 Dyson battery). Switched on the DC adapter for around 10mins and this was enough to "wake" the battery. It now charges as normal attached to the DC16 in the Dyson charge mount.

For a pretty in depth article on lithium battery sleep have a look at this:

How to disassemble a dyson dc16

The Dyson manual is here ( Dyson DC16 User Manual Page 2 ). If you're wanting to go further than just undoing areas to clear clogs, or, say, to do a super deep clean-out, then you may need to look around for specifics. There are videos out there on some deep inner checks, but I didn't have any luck on tear down guides. Good Luck

When is the DC16 red light supposed to change to green?

You can see the manual for the DC16 here: ( https://www.dyson.co.uk/medialibrary/Files/Dyson/Support/downloads/UK/floorcare/Manuals/dc16_uk_manual_cb_120710%20pdf.pdf ) Following the troubleshooting manual on page 6, fully charging the battery takes about 3 hours, for a run time of 6 minutes, so I'm not sure where 10 minutes comes from. The battery ships partially charged and was supposed to have been charged 3+ hours before a first use to get a full cleaning span. It's also noted that you can get red lights if the temperature is out of an optimal range, and if the filter is not seated properly, so these would be things to check as well. On the general checking list - look at the contacts for the battery and for the charger, make sure nothing is bent or corroded. Corrosion can be generally treated with use of some fine sandpaper or steel wool - be sure to blow the area clear of any steel wool fibers if you go that route. A better electrical contact sometimes will allow charging to get above a threshold voltage that will let the 'I'm charged' light turn green. Good Luck! :-)

How do I dismantle my Dyson DC58 to clean all filter etc

Hi David, it's Jack at Dyson. We'd advise against dismantling DC58 any further than is shown in the User guide. This could cause damage to your machine not covered under guarantee - meaning any replacement parts needed could be chargeable. However, you can wash the lifetime pre-filter following the steps shown in the video below: We recommend washing the filter at least once a month, using cold water without detergent. Make sure the filter is totally dry before replacing it, which could take at least 24 hours. To clean any fluff or debris from the mesh shroud, press the red bin base release catch once to open the bin base. Then with the base still open, press the same red catch firmly a second time: dismantle-dyson-dc58-clean-all-filter-m43difmpidfjgfho0k5c5fgh-2-0.jpg You can use a dry cloth or a soft brush to remove any debris from the mesh shroud. It's normal for harmless static to cause fine dust particles to cling to parts of the bin, cyclone pack and behind the mesh shroud. This dust will not affect performance as the airflow doesn't need to pass through this. You should find tapping the cyclone pack gently when emptying the machine will help dislodge any clinging particles. I hope this helps, but for further advice you can call our experts directly on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

I have the same problem as steve967 The dyson

Dear Michael_Stad,

I am going to sound like a broken record but here is my same answer to another person with the same problem.

I have I had the same problem with my Dyson DC16, where it only runs for a few seconds at a time with each trigger pull. My husband called Dyson (Canada) and without hassle they shipped us a replacement part which I just received this morning. The replacement part sent to us is: DC16 Main Body with Rating Plate. It is also under warranty for 1 year. The great customer service makes up for the flaw in the machine. Also, Dyson is aware of the problem. Hope this helps.

My dyson handheld charges fully,

Your battery is losing voltage too quick. It has probably developed a 'memory'. Dyson claims that their handheld has the best suction out of all the handhelds out there. In order to maintain that claim the circuit board will shut off power to the motor when the voltage drops below adequate charge for full suction. We need someone who can teach us to bypass that part of the circuit so it won't cut power to the motor or you need to replace the battery.Shorting the battery like an Aircraft battery then re-charging won't fix it.

Is it okay to store my Dyson handheld, DC 16, in the wall charger when not in use? I had heard that the battery life may be affected. Thanks for the helpful answer to my prior question. Phil Glasser

Hi Phil, My charger went bang and doesn't work anymore so my answer is after you have charged your battery remove it and switch your charger of and never charge a full battery. Has to be said also I would never buy another dyson product again, total rubbish.

How do I remove battery from hand held vacuum?

Hi Alan, it's Jack at Dyson. If you own a Dyson DC16 handheld vacuum, the battery removes at the push of a button. Press the catch and pull the battery away from the machine horizontally. If you're fitting a replacement battery, this will attach to the machine in the same way. If you own a different model of Dyson handheld vacuum, please reply to confirm which model you have so we can provide further advice.
