I know this isn't what you want to hear, but the problem you've described can't be fixed with troubleshooting. Your TV will have to be repaired. There is a part that has developed a defect and needs to be replaced. If you're still in warranty, the TV will be repaired at no charge to you. The warranty would likely be at least one year from the date of purchase from the manufacturer. If you purchased an extended service plan they will repair the TV at no charge as well.

If the TV is no longer in warranty, it will likely cost a minimum of $150 parts and labor. This is assuming that you only need one circuit board--it sounds like you may only need a new power supply or inverter board--or small part. If the problem is more than one of the circuit boards, the price of repair could go much higher.

Your Problem is in the power supply, the filter capacitors  need replacing .
By memory there's 3x 3300mf 63v and 3x1000mf 25v
any cap with a buldging top throw out.

Go into the menu and do the automatic channel scan. It will go and find all the locally available channels, including analog.

your antenna is not strong enough to receive

digital or your in a area where large

structures are blocking the reception.

you could try turning the antenna slightly

and rescanning .

check the crt socket replace if nesessary

Even though we are at a level of technology where most things can be addressed by a button on a remote or through a menu there still comes the time when we need to think back when we used to adjust TVs manually. It sounds like this is an analog TV and it is possible there are pots or potentiometers on the rear of the TV at the bottom. If you have children, they love to turn things and it may just be if they are there they need to be set to default. Typically a bad tube will give different symptoms, however, depending on the age of the TV there are some that have circuit boards that will effect the display on a good tube. Not to many symptoms given on this one other than what you describe as "the problem"

This is probably the text box function of the closed caption decoder. Turn off the closed captioning. I hope this helps you.

try pressing the button for the captions. one of the selections causes this screen.
