How do I view my wireless settings. It won't give

The GT5428 does not have wireless installed unless someone put a wireless card or adapter. If you do have a card or adapter, try calling the manufacturer of the product. If you do not have a card or adapter I would recommend buy a wireless card from Best Buy or Radio Shack

I upgraded my gategay gt-5428 computer memory 1 gb

Hello Erik,

Are you absolutely certain that the new module is compatible with your system? Go into the BIOS and see if it is recognized there.

Crucial shows that your computer takes DDR2 memory with support for DDR2 PC2-5300, DDR2 PC2-6400 speeds.

Make sure it is not ECC memory. ECC is not compatible.

If you are sure of the compatibility, I would try to install the old one by itself first and make sure the system boots. Then I would remove the old one and install the new one by itself. Try booting. If it doesn't work, you may have gotten a bad module. (It happens.)

Just FYI, here is the crucial link for your computer:

http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=GT5428

Thanks for using Fixya.

Cd dvd drive won't open.

Look for a small pinhole just under the tray door. This is the manual release for the dvd tray.

Just insert a long needle like object into the hole about 2 or 3 inches and push.

This should pop out the tray.
You should then be able to remove the shattered pieces of disk. If the drive tray does not function normally after removing the disk pieces you may have to remove the drive entiirely from the case in order to shake out the smaller bits. If the problem persists after that, you may have to remove the metal case from the drive itself and clean it out or it may just be time for a new drive.

Good luck and please comment back if this was helpful and with how you make out.

Basically, you're dealing with mixed filter configurations, some of which can can conflict. The most egregious example is packet-burning software, i.e. burning apps which behave like a floppy. For example, XP's built-in burning, DirectCD, InCD, etc. Or software conflicts between burning apps: e.g. Roxio/Nero, Nero/RecordNow, etc.

If you back up your registry first, and carefully follow directions, it is safe to delete the filters. NOTE: You may have to uninstall/re-install your burning programs, and for goodness sake, don't install any packet-burning apps. Also, resist the temptation to install multiple burning programs.

    Good luck

This shows you a photo of the Front Panel header on the motherboard.

A connection on a motherboard is referred to as a Header.

The Front Panel of your computer is the plastic part where the Power On button is.

The Front Panel header on the motherboard is where the wires from the Front Panel connect to.

The above is not to offend you, or insult your intelligence. Just wanted to give you the exact names of the parts you'll be handling.

Looking at your motherboard with the Processor to the top, and the Ram slots to the right, the Front panel header is located in the very bottom right corner.

Looking at the Front Panel header on the motherboard, you will note the different colors.

There are also Pins that stick up out of the Front Panel header.

Every 2 pins is grouped into one color.

The Front Panel header is located parallel to the outside edge of the motherboard.
There are 2 rows of pins.

One row across the top of 5 pins.
One row across the bottom of 5 pins.

The pins are numbered, as well as grouped into colors.

Starting at the Right side, going towards the Left, on the Top row;
Pins 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9

Starting at the Right side, going towards the Left, on the Bottom row;
Pins 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10.

Pins 1 and 3 ( Yellow ) are for the Harddrive Activity LED.
The light in the front panel that flashes when the harddrive is actively being used.

Pins 2 and 4 ( Green ) are for the Power On LED.
The light in the front of the computer that shows when the computer is on.

Pins 5 and 7 ( Blue ) are for the Reset switch.
The Reset button on the front of the computer, IF, the computer came with one.

Pins 6 and 8 ( Red ) are for the Power On switch.
The Power On button on the front of the computer.

Pin 9 (Black) is for the +5 Volt power

Pin 10 is not used. (Not connected)

The reason I took you the long way, and did not just provide a link to the Front Panel header, is in case you need more information about your computer.

This way you'll have it.

Which connectors are used for front panel, power

Hi,
On the motherboard the pinouts on the front panel should be colour coded, and marked with letters like in this picture >>>>>
ce10baf.jpg

The connectors are also marked corresponding to where the connect on the motherboard, like in this picture >>>>>>
66ce2fc.jpg

If the board is not colour coded then the motherboard will marked with the same letters, you may need a strong light to see the marks.

Regards.

MY GATEWAY GT5428 TURNS ON

What do you mean it wont go directly to your desktop? Does it eventually reach your desktop? Also, what do you mean that you're modem is on, how do you know this? Is it an external modem or an internal modem? This could be something as simple as replacing the monitor or replacing the operating system or something more complex like the video card or the motherboard....
