Technics SL-1210 Turntable - Page 7 Questions & Answers
No Power to turntable
Why not try replacing the whole power chord with new one instead of just changing the fuse ( but you will have to splice the two wire lines at the end of your turntable console if not to resolder it, and be sure to properly mask it with an electrical tape to avoid electrical hazard/shock to anyone... ;-)
We want to connect a SL-B5 to a sourround system
is your surround system has a phono input? because most of the turntable can only work with the unit that has a phono input, phono input has a a built-in pre-amp. so if you're only hooking your turntable to an ordinary input then this might be the case, you won't hear any sound or sometimes weak sound.

My turn table works properly but its volume is too low
Look it can either be one of 3 things. (1) Cartridge knackered. 2 Internal pre-amp in turntable. 3 Cartridge Pre-amp in Main amp connected to it.
To solve (1) disconnect all wires to cartridge. With the turntable connected to main amp - touch each channel wire (that connects to cart) with your finger. If you hear a decent buzz the cart has gone. A weak buzz and the other two could be still to blame.
Remember all functions on your main amp can work fine, but that pre-amp for the cartridge (often a single IC) can be dead or weak.
Not working
Your biggest problem will be getting hold of an arm! Oh and how the old one was removed? Was it for instance broken off! So with all these problems you should ask with all the time and effort - not to mention money! And an arm will be expensive!!! Is it time I gave up on it?
I've just bought a new lid for my 1200 Technics
All the new one dont have the hinges any more....The just ahve the rubber feet on the corners and it will just sit there...The older ones with the hinges will have a part sticking up..Slide the male part from the tables hinge into the female part of the hinge on the cover.
How to replace the speed pitch
Take off the platter by pulling up on the 2 holes under the slip matts. Flip it over. Twist off the feet. Take out about a thousand screws. And the black ruberish section should come right off. There are 2 screws that hold the pitch in place. Unplug it! plug the new one in! It real simple. If its an old 1200 and you can solder....Replace the RCA jacks as they to wear out. Good luck! And if you need me just message me!.
