Poor viewing quality

By poor color quality, do you mean that if you turn the color control all the way down, the black and white picture is more like black and red, green or blue - or do you have a good black and white image? If the B&W image is good, and the TV is an old (8+ years) one, maybe the mirror inside the set needs a good cleaning - especially if there are smokers in the room. If you have a B&W picture that is tinted, then you may have to go into a service menu to adjust it back to a better picture. Hard to guess the problem without more specific description of symptoms.

How do I turn off the captions on a JVC HD-56G787

Captions are in the closed caption menu, either the one in the set OR IN A BOX IF CONNECTED TO THE SET--EITHER PLACE IS POSSIBLE---and if you cannot turn off as you do not have the remote you may be out of luck....

My JVC HD-56G787 television has lost all blue color, everything is now green and purple.

Yes, contact a local JVC authorized repair shop--if I remember this model correctly it had this issue: missing a color or wrong color, picture backwards or even upside down. What was involved at the time was connection of the set to a computer and two files downloaded from their site---there is a multi-pin plug inside the rear of the set (have to remove cover) that when the process is done will reset the processor in the set to correct any or all of the above issues. The process requires the jig JVC designed for this and hence you want a JVC dealer. When we did them they provided the jig/

Dark spots

Take a good look at the screen on an unused video input to see if you seem them(a dark room works better). This could to my thinking be either dust (based on the brand/model posted here-let me know if different) on the optical lens this set uses OR a defect in the optical light engine. Also, I am aware this model does have software upgrades for different issues----when first out we had them and had to go to the site and download upgrades (two of them) and manually install them with a computer into the set---issues then were wrong colors and even lettering backwards........

Jvc 56g787 heard a loud pop ,then the TV and Blue

First of all, there is not a picture tube in this set....ahhh...anyway, the loud pop you heard was probably a filter capacitor going bad or possibly a semiconductor blowing up...you can take the cover off and look for burnt components and /or a blown capacitor...there may be debris in there if it was an electrolytic capacitor, as these contain paper and aluminum plate material..they usually look like one of those party poppers when they go...you may try to fix yourself, but if there is another cause that caused the fail;ure.. be prepared for another pop...you may just need to take to the shop

I have an JVC HD 56g 787 and it just died. The

There's a good chance you have failing electrolytic capacitors either in the power section or the inverter section or both.
Any caps in these sections that look bulged at the top, or bulged/leaking at the bottom (look for discoloration of the circuit board around the base of the capacitor) need to be replaced.
If you repeatedly turn it off and on, eventually it'll probably stay on, but every time you turn it off, the unit will get harder and harder to start up until one day it just won't.
Sometimes you have to do the opposite to start it up and unplug it for some time and then try again.

If you aren't tech savvy, don't worry, read the rest of this solution and watch the videos.

If you are handy with a soldering iron and can identify the power supply and/or inverter / FM section for the backlights, an inexpensive handful of capacitors will likely fix you right up.
Match the capacitance on the capacitors. Go over voltage if you can, and still have them fit.
IE - it's not a bad idea to replace a 10V cap with a 16V or 25V or even a 50V, but don't replace a 680uF cap with a 500uF or a 1000uF (unless you are SURE it's only doing supply output ripple filtering,
and even then, you should go OVER, not under the uF rating).

Most of the caps that go are 10V 1000uF or 3300uF.

I found some great videos of the procedure (for many Samsungs with the same issue) on youtube.

Backlight related video here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XoF6QZ1dmw&feature=related

As you can see, this issue spans plasma TVs, as well as large and small LCD TVs and monitors, amplifiers, computer power supplies and motherboards, and other electronic equipment.
The parts are cheap, and skill required is minimal.
A great parts source is Digi-Key, and you can order the parts online at www.digikey.com
They typically cost under a dollar a piece plus a flat shipping rate.
The parts usually arrive one business day later.
If you watch the third video, you will see that even someone with no soldering experience can perform these repairs as demonstrated by the woman in the video.

My K series JVC TV

Hello
As your tV doesn't give you a chance to enter into its Menu option, you can't check with its reset function. The only way to reset it is, to unplug it from the wall power socket, and left it idle for at least three hours. Do this and check. if it also doesn't help, you ave to contact the authorised service center for JVC at your town. The main system control and its memeory section will have the trouble. This is ofcourse not a user repairable one. OK.

The red and blue light

If you are hearing the clicking sound then this is not a voltage protection.

Clicking tends to indicate that the proper voltage is lacking to fire components (EX: lamp)

...this is indicating that the power supply for the tv needs repaired or replaced. A replacement can be found here.

However, a skilled repair shop can usually replace capacitors on the power supply to regain the "thrust" needed to fire the other components. Often times, you need to replace the capacitors with the SAME uF rating and a HIGHER voltage rating. EX: 1000uF 10v----> 1000uF 35v.

Thank you and best of luck!!! please rate :)

I replaced the digital board on my TV JVC 56g787,

Well, you should have downloaded all values from the old board to copy them to the new board. You are looking at a full scale alignment now. Your only recourse is to call an Authorized JVC service center to align it.

I had my Hp Pavillion dv9000 connected to my Jvc

Hi,

What i suggest is try to download the driver of your video card from the manufacturers website. Also try to use a different HDMI cable and try also the laptop to other T.V. with HDMI connection and see if its having same error. If happend its doing the same thing try to reinstall Operating System and if that steps does not resolved the issue, call the manufacturer because the HDMI port is not working, its a hardware problem.

Static discharge can destroy electronic components. Since your TV became defective when you were connecting an external device, it is very likely that a static discharge killed the first active component inside. It is a good idea to have a tech check the input select IC is functional or not.
