Technics SL-BD22 Turntable Questions & Answers
The volume on technics SL-BD22 turntable will not turn up and stays at one volume
Since the turntable itself doesn't have a volume control the problem is with the amp it is connected to. It should be connected to an amp with a dedicated phono socket. It's no use connecting it to a tape or aux or CD socket. These sockets do not have a built in pre-amp for the magnetic cartridge. If your amp doesn't have a dedicated phono socket then you can buy a Magnetic Cartridge Pre-amp that will plug into a tape socket etc on the amp and have the deck plugged into it. If plugged into a none dedicated socket though you can hear it, the volume will be very low compared to other sources. If you have got it plugged into a dedicated phono socket and the volume is still low, then the internal built pre-amp inside your amp for the deck has failed and will need to be repaired. The pre-amp failure will not effect any other functions of the amp.
Why tone arm stuck?
Depends on stuck , i think that i see often with you g dj's and then dirt is the problem and no maintenanance , if you cannot use your height adjustment any more, take the whole unit outand try very thin only , WITHOUT a lot of force to gebtle move it both ways , is very gentle stuff and the problem is often that they've pushed it the wrong side. Number two, the hair heater gently warm it 10 minutes(gloves) ans that will do the the trick and whem loose emediatialy clean and use good lubricant(not to thin), but when you wanna buy a table and the heightadjustment is jammed, it is a bad onr.....runnnnn

Tehnics sl-bd22 noisy motor what to do?
If the bearing is worn to the point of a rattle and a small amount of silicone oil won't stop it, then it should be replaced or the motor replaced. These bearings are normally lifetime impregnated with lubricants and can sometimes dry out with use and somewhat seize up causing what may sound like a rattle. If the motor shaft has worn down enough at the bearing point, then a rebuild or replacement is in order.
Needle doesn't make contact with album-can I
The weight at the end of the arm should be adjusted so that it applies pressure to the stylus. However sometimes the cueing leaver can get stuck or break, not allowing the stylus to come down on to the record. If the weight has numbers trying setting it to around 2 or 3. If it does come down, adjust it till that it neither rumbles or slips across the record. It's a question of trial and error doing this.
Cartridge
If you look at the cartridge it should have a make and model number. Put that into Google and it should come up with the correct stylus for it.
Technics FG Servo SL-22 auto-return problem!
Find a way to hang the unit, keeping it level. I use 4 coat hangers, cut off and bent to a hook at the bottom. Put a safety string , wire or clip on one of them in case it gets bumped. Using your hand, turn the turntable and let it go through it's cycle. You will be able to see where and when thinks happen. Some have notches and some are friction fit. As long as you don't force anything, you should be able to realign the timing of the gears.
