Rowenta Iron problems

inside the iron is a thermal switch that has failed to make contact. Dissassemble the iron and you will see a small white ceramic pin sticking up out of the heating chamber and on tip there is a small contact. Above it is another contact that makes the heating element work. Easiest way to fix is to put a small bead of glue on the housing to force the contacts together.

How to stop leaking

The best solution for this is to pour out the water when you're done with it. The manual suggests that you set the iron to "dry" setting and then open and close the steam control to push out remaining water, all to prevent scaling. (Do this with the iron unplugged) If you need further help, reach me via phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/cynthia_b7d259f615af7086

What is the rowenta part #G25 12 349683 used for

I think this part is merely to protect the plate during shipping. The part is not listed in the manual, nor is it showing up in a site-specific Google search ("349683 site:www.rowentausa.com"). So I'm throwing it in the recycle bin. It is marked with the recycle symbol, so I won't just throw it away. Hope I don't end up wishing I'd kept it! Replace power cord. Has special screws on back

I am not familiar with your particular iron ... however, I am familiar with different types of "bits" I suspect yours are security "Torx". Torx look like a "allen" with points. Some call them "star". A Torx 'security' will be the star shape with a pin in the center, disallowing a regular Torx bit from entering. If you will take your Iron to the Hardware Store or your local Auto Parts store and show to the salesman, I am certain they can sell you the proper bit to remove the cover on your Iron. You may have to purchase a handle at the same time.

There are other types and yours may not be Torx. It could be any of many including a thing that looks like a philips but only three slots instead of 4 or a 'clutch' or it could be a 'one way' or other special bit.. The person at the store should be able to identify the appropriate tool immediately. If not, there are probably more than one store in your town ... go to he next and so on until you get the necessary tool.

Thanks for your question today @ FixYa.com

How do you clean the soleplate? I have some

You can use Rowenta Sole plate Cleaner. If you cannot find it locally, check online at retail sites like Amazon.
If you want to try a home made cleaner, Avoid abrasive cleaning powders or scouring pads.

Begin with a cold iron that is unplugged from the electrical outlet. Use a mild dish washing soap or laundry detergent to create a sudsy solution. Use a nylon mesh pad, sponge, or a clean cloth dipped in the solution to completely wipe off the soleplate of the iron. Wipe the soleplate clean with a damp cloth or rag.

If the soleplate is the victim of a starchy build up or corrosion of some form, you will need to use something a little stronger. Use a clean cloth dipped in white vinegar to remove the build up. Wipe the soleplate clean with a cloth dampened in clean water.

If this does not work, then you will need to heat a solution of white vinegar and salt until the salt dissolves. Using a clean cloth sipped in the heated solution, wipe the iron's soleplate clean. Continue wiping until you have removed all of the build up or corrosion. Remember to wipe the iron completely clean with a cloth dampened in clean water.

Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks.

Rust colored steam that

Hi, Brown water and whitescale are often the result of the water you use in the iron... If you have scale, white vinegar will clean that... For brown water, empty the iron, rinse out the insides with bottled water, and then use the bottled water instead...
