OM 99727 shredder not working

I had this same problem. This is what I did to fix it.

When I went to ShredCare.com (the recommended web site for technical support of this particular shredder), I read that 'Most models of shredders have a safety interlock switch that is activated by the basket.' Upon looking closely at my basket and the shredder, I found this safetly interlock switch and made sure to align it with the proper position within the basket. There is only ONE way to place the shredder on the basket and have this safety interlock switch activated. The switch is located on the underside of the shredder. Align this switch with the ridge on the inside of the basket. Listen carefully and you will hear the switch 'click' when in the right position. Mine is very touchy. I've even had to press in on the side of the basket while shredding to make sure that the ridge and the switch are making contact.

Hope this helps!

Shred care paper shredder model#

Hi,
Many people come here looking for parts for their shredders...
The bottom line is that there are no parts available for most shredders, unless they are high end commercial shredders. They are made to be disposable....

Sorry but parts are not available...

What to do

Have an electrician install a 4-way light switch, that will reverse polarity on the two wires that power the motor, coming from the damaged computer board (that USE to swap polarity ) and have him mount it where it can be easily seen and reached. The drawing below is only to explain how the 4-way switch works. As I am an Electrician, it was an easier and more cost effective solution, when my 4year old turned my shredder into a piggy bank, burning out the forward option within the computer board.

I have a OM02750 out of warranty exhibiting the same symtom. I opened the unit (power disconnected) and found some bad solder joints on the bottom of the circuit board. Re-soldered them and now it works.

Spl-mc180p shredder trouble shooting

Most jams are pretty much the same. First, try running the blades in REVERSE, that is done by using the on/off, selector switch. If that does not solve the problem, Unplug the unit from the electrical, remove the top part from the basket. Pull out as much of the paper from the top and bottom that you can. Replace the unit on the basket (make sure it is facing in the correct direction) and squirt, or lightly pour mineral oil (or machine oil, or something like WD-40) directly on the rollers and let it absorb into the remaining paper for a few minutes then try running the unit. If the motor does not come on, there is a fuse inside the machine that may need to be replaced. Once you have solved the problem, you should oil the blades after every hour of use, it really makes it easier on the blades. Also, there is an internal "heat switch" in the machine that will shut it down for about 90 minutes if the motor gets to hot. It is a safety factor in case you get something stuck, like a person wearing a tie, etc. After the machine has cooled down, turn the on/off switch to off and then back to on. .

The shredder will run in reverse but will not run foreward.

Inside the shredder there is a motor which is wired to run both forward and backward, the way it does this is to transfer the power from the switch to a couple of wires on the motor
The forward running motor will be linked to the auto start button which will tell it to work with the paper sensor.
When you select the Forward function the Auto Start is taken out of circuit and the Forward switch should supply the motor

After all of that I would say that the switch is open circuit on the Forward contact and needs replacing

Driven helical gear damaged

You are probably out of luck as the manufacturers usually don't sell any parts for lower-cost shredders. I would see if Office Max has a repair or trade-in program.
