Radio shuts down when volume is turned past half

it could be several things, it could be a bad ground, a bad power connection, a bad speaker(s) or the deck itself could be bad, i would check all your connections first. if they all check good try disconnecting one speaker at a time.

I cannot get the auxiliary

Most head units come w/ connections for both auxiliary units (for an amp, etc) and the line for the power antenna. in the past when my deck would stop sending a signal via the auxiliary, I would simple use the power antenna. It pretty much just lets the amp or whatever know when to turn on. Separately however, most newer decks have a way to turn off the auxiliary via the menu settings. I might start w/ that if your kenwood happened to be a newer deck.

I recently bought a new

For these kinda devices the security can not be by passed ..and there isnt a master code to delete the old one ...The security code it is stored in a flash tip memory chip inside..and it is not sensitive on any power removal or any other trick cause it is not a memory that depends on power feeding to hold the information ...so ..the only way to do it ..is to take it to a rep[air shop that handle this kinda devices..and change the memory chip that hold the code...after that you will be able to insert your own code..or ..if it is not a new chip ..they will tell you the new code..
This operation it is well known among guys that handle this devices..cause it is a problem that is present among almost all second hand cars buyers ..and it is the only solution ..

What color wier do i hook up my amp to the head unit?

The only wire that you should hook up from the amp to your head unit is the remote power wire which is the blue wire on the wiring harness for the head unit. Sometimes they are blue with a white stripe. Hope this helps.

My car stereo flashes the word "PROTECT"

If this happened while playing music at a little higher volume, you must check the speakers for short in coils. disconnect the speakers to see if the protect condition changes, if so check the speakers and wiring. If not then you must have blown up the output IC or a power shorting within the set. You will have to remove the pcb disconnect the power to the output IC to confirm the fault. Helpful I hope. Good day
