When I put a CD in i get a response as TOC ERR
TOC error is not an error with the radio - it is telling you that a speaker is blown - or speakers wires are touching ground.
Inspect your speakers and wiring before sending out the unit.

A Security Code Bug in some Kenwoods
There
is a reported bug in the security code handling of some Kenwood
stereos. In models with thie bug, the security code is stored
incorrectly. The workaround is to enter the wrong security code.
In
models with this bug, you have to decrement the third character of the
security code by one. If your security code was 1111, you would enter
your security code as 1101. If your security code was 9999, you would
enter 9989.

not sure if standby mode, or completely turned off (to turn it off just click the SRC mode a few seconds)

Hi
Kenwood radio codes are not available for free. You can solve the issue yourself; look for a really small hole in the face plate. Put a tip of a pen into it. Press it in and then it should turn on without the code. If still it doesn’t work then that means the previous owner set a security code on the radio. Every time it is unhooked from power, then reconnected it will ask for a code. If you cannot get the code from the previous owner, you may get lucky, and they will give the master override. If still its of no help then you need to check with Kenwood.
Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.
Thanks

Its on protect mode and i cant get it off
Look on the face plate for a really small hole. Put the tip of a pen in the hole and hold it for a few seconds. Your system should then re-set. If the Protect signal keeps coming on, take it to the dealer to make sure your stereo is wired properly....hope this helps

Keeps asking for code will not come on
You must have bought it used. If it is asking for a code, that means the previous owner set a security code on the radio. Every time it is unhooked from power, then reconected it will ask for a code. If you can not get the code from the previous owner, you may get lucky, and they will give the the master overide code. It is hard to get then to do this over the phone, because it helps theives. Hope this helps.

Selling Receiver
Hello alleycat121,
The KDC-MP235 was replaced with the KDC-MP238 which was replaced with the KDC-MP242, the current model. It's an entry-level receiver that retails new for around $120 with online prices around $75-100.
If the receiver is in good working condition, and you have all of the paperwork and installation accessories, it should be worth about 50% of new cost.
Hope this helps.

Where can i get a wire harness for this stereo?
If you are in the UK then Halfords will have one in stock, or if they don't they will order one for you, if you are in the US any motor electrical services company will be able to supply one. We had hells own job getting a Kenwood adaptor for our porsche, but halfors came up trumps.
