Q 100 will not light but I hear the gas coming

Try lighting it with a fireplace lighter or long match. If it lights, your problem is your igniter. Either keep using lighters or replace the igniter.

Had trouble lighting weber Q, replaced regulator

Are you using the valve-regulator or a conversion hose to a 20lb cylinder? a gas problem is different from an ignition problem. If an ignition issue the piezo module on that model has to have a good ground connection because cast aluminum will not ground at the electrode. make sure wires are tight and secure. Also check the "gap" at the tip of the electrode and adjust for strong blue spark. Most barbecues need the electrode gap adjusted when first installed. if an older model dirt and grease will interrupt the spark so make sure the tip of the electrode and area around it is clean -- burner and collector.

I use the small propane tanks. I had a brand new

You need an extra set of hands for the ignition assembly. The gas leak is probably in the tank connection assembly. The plastic fitting may be cracked. Unfortunately, you're the third person I have had in 5 days, that has had a leak in their Weber Q100. The last time I checked for someone, the gas tank fitting/holder was out of stock. No available date was listed. You may want to convert it to take a 20 Lb LPG Grill tank. Ironically, that conversion part is available.

Hope this helped you with the leaking situation and I wasn't kidding about an extra set of hands.
