No Valid Disc - Toshiba SD-P1900
Yep sone of a gun ! With the Toshiba Portable DVD Player, hold the "Mode button" down for several seconds and it will make a chain saw noise take your finger off, hit it again once and bingo now it works. I was ready to throw this player in the trash!
Disc doesn't spin
HelloCheck whether the disc inserted into the player spins. If it does not spins, replace the sled motor.
I put a disk in
In most cases when the CD does not play it is possible that the optical head is a suspect. Sometimes it might pick up ordinary audio CD but will not play other formats. This indicates that the optical head is weak and so there is no detection or scanning of the CD . If the optical is working the tracks will be read immediately but with no scanning the laser head can be defective.
The main motor will not work in some cases as unless the tracks are read the drive motor will not work with signal from the processor. Also in some cases the central motor base can shift and so the distance to the disc can be more resulting in low detection. You can pull up the spindle to come closer. Sometimes certain cleaner disks will not be tracked to run for cleaning as it will not be read and so will reject. Hence it is ideal to manually clean the laser head eye using a cleaning swap /cotton bud with gentle pressure on the lens eye.If there is no result then watch if the CD spins or tries to spin. If so the board seems to work unless a test is taken on the main board but the possibility of a defective optical head can be the suspected fault. If any of the above seems otherwise we must recheck with possibilities of a malfunction of the main processor board

Howdy...I have a Toshiba SD-P1900
Hello,
how long have you been using this player? I suspect the laser (lens) of the player. I think the laser (lens) is weak that's why it cannot read data/files on DVD discs.
To confirm if actually its a laser problem, insert an Audio CD into the player and see if will play. If it plays, then obviously, your laser (lens) is weak. But if it doesn't play Audio CD, then it might still be the laser (lens) or a mechanism problem.
Get a lens cleaner, use it to clean the lens. If that doesn't solve the problem, get a screw driver, open the player's cover so that you can gain access to the lens, use a cotton board to clean the surface of the lens. This should clean dust or dirt that might be on the lens.
If non of the above solves the problem, then know that you need to replace the laser to a brand new one.
To replace the lens, remove the bad laser, use it as a sample to get exactly the same type and do the replacement. Note that replacing a laser (lens) needs a professional touch, so if you cannot replace the laser, get it to a repairman to fix it for you.
Once this us done, your player will play all DVD discs again.
Good luck.
Do you have a unlock
Hi.
As for most portable Toshiba, there is no known region hack for the Toshiba SD-P1900. This model has been released before 2007.That usually means that the player is unlockable.
I hope this will save you some times.
Regards.
Ginko.

Check for cracks or scratches on the dvd disc?It a dvd movie disc, not a computer program dvd disc?Take the dvd disc, washes it with some dish washing soap.To clean all the grims and grease out of the dvd disc laser surface to the dvd player laser eye to read the dvd disc.
Used three times, three week
Hello,
that's electronic for you! Anything can happen at time.
Since its not been long you've been using the player, then the problem shouldn't be from the laser (lens) because the laser (laser) is the first one should check if a player cannot read disc.
The problems should be a mechanism fault. When disc is inserted into the player, the laser should raise up and read the data on the disc. But since its not doing so, then it needs some adjustment.
Mechanism fault are usually though to fix, so I would advice that you take the player to a tech to help fix the fault.
Good luck.

I am sorry, but usually when this happens, the "Electricity" "Tracks" through the "Water" and "Shorts" out to "Other" circuits, & components and the like, the errant current, destroys the delicate components, having voltage and current where there should have been none.. Sometimes if it wasn't active at the time of getting wet, and you can get in immediately, sometimes you may be able to rescue it... but otherwise you are just asking for trouble, as even if you do manage to clean it up almost 100% of the time, the circuit traces, tracks, get corroded through, in time. You would be better getting a new one... and learning from the bad experience.
Toshiba Portable DVD will not spin upon start up
Hello,
If the disc does not spin it will cause the optical reader to not read the disc, which will give you the "no disc" or "invalid disc" error. If a disc will not spin, the most common cause of this is due to a spindle motor malfunction. The good news is that it can be fixed on average of between $70-90 dollars depending on what service repair technicians charge in your local area. You can fix the problem yourself if you have the patience and a bit of knowledge, but I can tell you from first hand experience it is a pain to do this.
The pictures below provide you an idea of what you are looking at.
I hope this helps give you an idea of what the problem is and helps you solve the issue.
If you would not mind, please rate my help. I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.
