Obviously your rechargeable battery isn't getting charged. It's probably a good battery as it recovers enough to run for 3 minutes after you try charging it. (all that's happening is the battery is allowed to rest and it recovers a little bit of it's capacity.) As to why it's not getting charged, it could be the charger or the wiring in the headphones or the wiring in the base or a few other possibilities. You didn't give us a model number or any other details so we can't get any closer than that.

If it seems as though the transmitter signal is being received but there is no audio, disconnect the 3 or 4 pin connector of the mic and touch the different pins while transmitting to the receiver. If there is audio hum or buzz, the mic itself is probably dead. A wire could be off inside its connector.

Try to get a one track sound mixer and your problem will be solved.

More then likely you can get it at your local music dealer, and they might even be able to fix the mic for good.

It could be that the rechargeable battery has failed. Take the batteries out and then replace them.
