301 Power Problem
you might have a grounding issue or electrical power. dish receivers need a specific amount of volts, what you can do is take an extension cord n connect it to the rcvr and take the other end of the extension cord n plug it in on another outlet in another ROOM, then see if it powers on , if it does something is wrong w/ the outlet even if u have A tv or other appliace plugged in, if it doesnt turn on then call dish network n get replacement receiver
301 dish keeps losing signel
If keep losing signal, but comes back, then your dish likely has become a bit loose on its mount. That, or the LNB's screw has fallen out.
You could also have trees growing into the beam (those this usually only causes problems in spring when leaves sprout out). Your coax could have moisture getting into it somewhere, or is damaged by a tight bend.

Dish Network - Dish 500 Satellite 110 is not being recognized
You will need a DP or Legacy twin or quad, or DPP twin without using an external switch. If you use Legacy Duals, or DP Duals you will need a switch. USUALLY a SW21 is used to combine the signals but you may have a different one in use if at all.
The primary thing to remember when using a switch is that you must use the same type of LNB as switch e.g. Legacy switches with Legacy LNB's and Dish Pro switches with Dish Pro LNB's.
Check your LNB type. Legacy LNB's have only a Dish Network Logo on them, Dish Pro has DP on them and DPP have DP PLUS on them.
One of three things could be the cause:
1. Line of site. Must be clear of all obstructions to ensure adequate signal.
2. You have a faulty switch, or conflicting LNB and switch, or no switch at all.
3 you may have a bad port on the LNB.
As a fail safe check that your mount is level and plumb. You also may have the dish pointed directly at 119. Check the Skew and elevation settings as well. If LOS IS THE ISSUE YOU MAY NEED TO RELOCATE THE DISH OR REMOVE THE OBSTRUCTION.
In some extreme cases microwave towers and High Voltage lines also pose a problem but doubt this is the case for you.

How to fix lnb signal unlock
Hi,
my name is Phillip Chang, member of DISH Networks Customer Service and happy to help. Before performing any of these steps, ensure that the weather is clear. Start by pressing the menu button, this can be found on the top left of the DISH Network remote control, then press the numbers 6-1-1, this should take us to the "Point Dish Screen", then select "Check Switch" on the right of the screen, then select "Test" on the following screen. This will acquire the signal. Just a warning, if you get an attention message "836" do NOT save the changes, give us a call at 1-800-333-DISH (3474 for additional trouble shooting.
Hope this helps!
I FORGOT MY CODE ON MY UNIVERSAL REMOTE TO MY 301
Can you please provide more information to allow us to further assist you, for example could you please let us know the manufacturer of your universal remote? Also just to confirm, are you trying to program the remote to your television, or are you trying to program the remote to your 301 receiver? Or is it both? In addition, you may also be able to contact the manufacturer of your universal remote if you'd like and they can also provide further assistance in regards to the remote codes you are requesting for the remote if they are not included in the instruction manual that came with the remote.

Hello this is Nick Franta with DISH.
During the intermittent signal loss/freezing are any error messages popping up on your screen? From the information provided the best solution would be to unplug the receiver from the outlet for 10 seconds. Also try to press the up and down buttons on the receiver itself when its freezing to see if it allows you to change the channel. If this doesn't resolve the issue we would need to send you a replacement receiver. Let us know if you need any further help!
What satellite dish to buy for a dish 301 reciever
Any dish would work for the 301 except a 1000.4, however I would recommend a Dish 500 unless you're planning on going to HD, if so a 1000.2. You can lookup the angles at www.dishpointer.com if you're going to point it yourself, or you can call our customer service line at 1-800-333-3474 and see about a technician. Hope that helps
1st unit No power
2nd unit No Signal
Hey there, my name is Cheri Torres with DISH Networkcustomer service. I came across your post and wanted to see if there wasanything I can do to help you. If both of your TVs are not showing programmingthere are a few trouble shooting steps you can try to resolve this issue. Thefirst thing you are going to want to do is check your receiver to make sure youhave both green and blue lights on. If you have just the blue light on but notthe green, the first step would be to press the power button on the front ofthe receiver once and release. You might notice that both lights are off. Ifthis is the case you are going to want to unplug the receiver from the walloutlet or the surge protector for about 10-15 seconds. Once you plug thereceiver back in allow it to reset and power itself back on. In the case thatnone of the lights come back on, even after the reset you will need to call1-800-333-3474 to get your receiver replaced. If both the green and blue lightsare on, the next step is to try all possible channels and inputs. TV1 is goingto be either on channel 3/4 or it could possibly be on an input. TV2 will needto be on channel 60 or 73. I hope this information helps you with getting yourissue resolved. If you have any other questions or concerns feel free to postback here and I will be happy to help.
Cant get my check swith to show satellite
Hello, this is Matthew Gonzales with DISH Network customer service. If you are not getting satellite signal, the problem can several different things, but here are a few things you can try. First, try a hard reset. To do a hard reset, you unplug the receiver from its power outlet, wait 15 seconds then plug it back in. The next step would be double checking you satellite cable. On the back of the receiver there should be a cable connected where it says "Satellite in", make sure this cable is secured from the receiver to the wall. After you do these steps, try running a check switch test (menu-6-1-1-check switch-test). If you are still not receiving satellite signal, a technician will be needed at the home to fix the issue. If this has not been resolved, please feel free to email me at [email protected].

Hello, my name is Becki Barned, with Dish Network customer service. I read your blog, and if this has not been resolved yet, or if you are still having any other problems, I would be more that happy to help you out! You need to program your remote in this case. Pull out the Smart Card in the front of the receiver, which will bring you to system info. Here, with your remote, hold down the SAT button on the top left of the remote, until all the mode buttons light up at the top of the remote, then release. Then press a number between 2 and 15 on the numeric keypad, then press the pound button (#) then record (above the 3) 3 times. This will resolve the remote issue!!!!!
Works fine for aproximately 10-15 minutes and then
Hello, my name is Becki Barned with Dish Network customer service. There are a few other things that could be wrong here. There are many components between the dish and the receiver that could cause this, and in rare cases, it could be the receiver. It could be a cabling issue, where there is a corruption in one of the cables going to this receiver, it could be, as I said, the receiver, just not being able to read to the dish anymore. The best resolution may be a technician. If this hasn't yet been resolved, please post back, and I would be more than happy to help further. You can also find us on Twitter for tech help as well.
