Toshiba TheaterWide 50HP16 50 in. Plasma HDTV Questions & Answers
I have a 6 yr old toshiba 50hp16 that is currently
The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.
http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

Toshiba 50hp16... No power, power
Hi,
Unplug the unit for few minutes, say 15 minutes and then turn it back on. If the problem persists, this would confirm an internal failure. You need to get the TV repaired.
There could be few possibilities ranging from power supply board to y sustain board. You need to open the TV and check the power supply board. If you find any bulged/leaked/swelled cap, you need to replace them.New caps could be available from radioshack or fry's. You need to have electronics repair experience and should know how to use multimeter and soldering iron to repair it yourself.
After this, Would like for you to take your meter and place it on DC voltage, start
at the power supply the positive end on VS, Then VA and the negative
wire to the panel this is the best ground. Turn on and see if the
voltage is present at the VS, VA, V-scan, According to the Label. if a
voltage is missing remove each plug from the power supply to make sure
they are not holding down the voltage, If you don't find one that's
trying to climb, or shows close to what it should be, another method is
to locate a short circuit place meter on ohms or beep test follow same
procedure no voltage should be shorted to ground. And this is the
problem. You can unplug each board one at a time, Starting with the
Y-SUS then the Z-SUS.
Let me know, once done so that we could proceed.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

My tv 50 plasma toshiba has no picture just sound
In that case you have a faulty part in it. The tv must be opened and tested. Since you still have sound you should start by testing the Y-sus board - the voltages on exit and the return( Va, Vs and Z-bias). If you have never done this before then call a repairman, you can do a lot of damage if you touch the wrong stuff by accident.

Toshiba 50HP16 Plasma tv has
Display IC seems to have gone. It will be a replaceable module. Only you have to figure out which one it is. Such thing happen in electronics. Look for any burnt or bulged IC.

Toshiba 42RV500E sound issue
This is a known issue with this TV. The following might resolve it:
Check Mute and Volume:
Ensure that the TV is not muted and that the volume is set appropriately. Sometimes accidental button presses can lead to muted sound or low volume.
Inspect External Speakers:
If you're using external speakers, verify their connections. Loose cables or faulty speakers can cause sound issues.
Test Different Inputs:
Connect a non-HDMI device (such as a DVD player) to the TV. Observe if the sound distortion occurs. If it doesn't, the problem might be related to the HDMI signal from your Virgin box.
HDMI Troubleshooting:
If the issue persists with the DVD player over HDMI, consider the following:
HDMI Cable: Check the HDMI cable for damage or loose connections.
Virgin Signal: Contact Virgin to inspect the signal/lines and replace the box if necessary.
Mainboard Replacement (if needed):
If the sound distortion persists, it could be due to a faulty sound processor chip on the TV's mainboard. In this case, consider replacing the mainboard.
