Hi Beverly Neal, At this point, It isn't worthy to get this VCR fixed since the manufacturers stopped their production in 2016 or earlier so It might be hard to find parts to fix it or to expensive to get it fixed.

If has option ''factory reset'' push reset.

Not possible on almost all models--only with the correct remote.

This unit is not yet region free.
Some cd's or dvd's will not play unless you make it region free.

OK... now some DVDs cannot be hacked / or unlocked for regions BUT

go to e-Bay and search for dvd region unlock code... there are some there BUT go into a couple to see if they will let you contact them FIRST to see if yours can be unlocked BEFORE YOU BUY.

Hello!

It seems there is no region hack yet available for the Zenith XBV713 model.

However, for the model XBV613 there is....It might worthy to try.

Here's the procedure:

1. Create a non-empty file called LG36868.IMG (For example, use a text editor to create a file and save a file. Then rename the file to LG36868.IMG. Make sure the file extension is .img)
2. Burn the LG36868.IMG file to a blank data CD (not a DVD).
3. Insert the CD in your DVD Player. Press Play.
4. The region management menu will appear.
5. Use the remote control and enter '0' to set the unit to region free.
6. Press the pause on the remote.
7. Eject the disc.
Note: When I reached step step 6 the display on the front of the DVD player said "error", but the hack worked anyway.

If it's an exact replacement for the remote for your equipment, then it will work out of the box.

A dirty VCR will do this and usually has little to do with loose parts.
If you are not comfortable doing the cleaning take it to a qualified repair shop.
In this day and age it is most definately cheaper to replace the unit.

is the tab on the cassette in place? if it has been removed the cassette will eject automatically when pressing the record button.
