Refrigerator in not working

Sounds like the compressor is broken, it could also be a thermo cut out switch that is situated near the compressor at the back. Good Luck the Yeti

Every time we turn on our ice maker it leaks on the floor and ice bulids up on the floor of the freezer. it makes ice fine and the water dispenser works fine. we have replaced the water line thinkin

Most times the leak is caused by a defective dual water control valve but in this case it is obviously not the problem. Make sure your refrigerator is level front back and sides. If the problem is not cause by being out of level I want you to look for cracks in the W10190929 Ice Maker Mold and Heater assembly. I have a Whirlpool side

Hello,

Let's start by diagnosing the freezer;

Fan problem is one of the most common reasons for the freezer to start failing, this is called "frost free failure." Ice can build up on the evaporator coils over time, and this ice builds up until it starts blocking the fan. The fan is responsible for circulating cold air throughout the freezer, so if it is blocked the freezer will not be able to freeze any food. You can usually check this by removing an access panel in the back of the freezer to inspect the coils. If ice is built up on the coils, a hairdryer can assist in defrosting them.

It's also possible that the fan is not running at all. If the fan is burned out or the motor isn't running, cold air can't circulate through the freezer and everything will melt. You can normally hear the fan motor switch on and off from time to time. Listen for it and if you can't hear it coming on for an extended period of time, the motor may need repair or replacement. The wires connecting to the fan may be the problem, preventing the fan from receiving electricity.

Several other problems could be keeping your freezer from freezing:

There could be leaks in one or several of the hoses in the refrigerator, which results in the cold air being lost instead of circulating properly throughout the fridge and freezer.

If you have the freezer so full that the cold air can't circulate, your food will thaw even though the freezer isn't malfunctioning. Always leave some space open in the freezer and try to not store food right up against the cooling vents.

The thermostat might have shorted out, which means the freezer can't accurately determine how cold it is. If this is the case, the refrigerator would probably not be working, either.

If your defrost drain becomes clogged, the water in the line will just refreeze over and over again, which could damage the lines as well as the fan. Always check the drain and make sure no sludge is building up in it if you have a self-defrosting refrigerator.

Always try to keep the freezer door closed for long periods of time. The more the door is opened, the more warm air is let in and cold air is released. If the door is opened frequently, the freezer could be warming faster than the fridge can cool it, which will thaw your food

As for the fridge, the same solution but for more details. If refrigerator is not cooling properly can be due to a defrost timer, which is causing the fridge to go into defrost cycle. Usually it takes 45-60 minutes for refrigerator to come out of defrost cycle. If the timer goes bad then it will not come out of defrost cycle and can result in this kind of issues. It can also occur due to defrost thermostat, it allows current to pass through it at temperatures of 20 to 30 degrees Fahrenheit and prevents current from passing through it at 40 to 60 degrees. This is difficult to test, though, because it takes a prolonged, very-cold temperature to turn it on. The defrost thermostat is snapped onto the top portion of the evaporator. The thermostat sends temperature information to the processor. The defrost heater must be replaced when replacing the thermostat.

1. Remove the lower fan duct work from the evaporator cover.
2. Remove the 1/4-in. evaporator cover screws and remove the evaporator cover.
3. Disconnect the defrost thermostat wiring connector.
4. Remove the defrost thermostat from the evaporator.

I hope the above helps.......

Good luck.

Compressor restart procedure

Hello, Many people have had problems with their refrigerator compressors not starting and wonder what may be the problem. Many times the problem can be traced to the start components. The start relay and the start capacitor work together to help the compressor get started. By giving it a short extra shot of higher voltage current, it gives the compressor the kick to get it turning up to speed.

The capacitor is the long round tube on the top of the box that houses the compressor terminals and the start relay.

The start relay is pushed right onto the compressor terminals C and R. It also has two wires that go up to the start capacitor.

The relay can be removed by just pulling out on it away from the compressor off of the pins.

If your refrigerator compressor is not starting, you can change the start components easily, to see if they are the problem. Usually you will have about a 50-50 chance of the compressor working again by changing these parts.

If you are looking for the configuration of the compressor terminals, here is a picture of the terminal cover that shows which terminals are where.
Thanks

My Whirlpool side-by-side model-ED20ZKXBW00 MFG

First thing to try is Powering off the FF at the mains supply and leaving it standing for 30 minutes. Make sure that you do not open any of the doors or touch any of the controls during this time. Then reconnect the power and wait for 30 to 60 minutes to see if the fault remains or is cured. Try completely defrosting the FF as despite common belief these units are not totally frost free.

In side by sides if the freezer side is working OK and the fridge side is not working correctly it means that air ducting has iced up or the air vent from the freezing unit to the fridge compartment has stuck in the closed or partially closed position which causes the fridge to not be any where near as cool as it should be. If it is too cold then the vent is stuck in the open position and the fridge temperature will continue to fall and become the same as the freezer, thereby freezing the contents of the fridge compartment. It can also get stuck in another position so that if the temperature is adjusted on the front panel then nothing happens to the temperature in the fridge compartment. The vent, which is usually at the top of the fridge compartment on the side where it joins the freezer compartment, is controlled by a small sync motor and either the motor has become faulty, the control module is faulty or the vent is iced up. It can be come iced up by putting too many hot items in the fridge so the steam condenses and freezes the vent in position and then the motor cannot open or close it causing it and / or the control module to become faulty. Other times it is just old age that causes the motor and / or the control module to fail. If the sync motor and vent are working OK then there may be a fault with the fridge temperature sensor or main on board controller that will mean that the sensor or the controller will need replacing.

WATER RUNNING OUT FROM UNDER REFRIGERATOR

If the floor of the freezer is full of ice, your defrost water drain tube is clogged. Remove the ice in the freezer bottom, find the top of the drain tube inside the freezer near the top of the ramped up area, about the size of your index finger and blast hot water through it with a turkey baster. About 4 cups of good hot water but not boiling

Thermostat control

Your system most likely has an automatic defrost system. The auto defrost system should actuate every 8 or 12 hours. Under normal conditions the water from the drain pan will evaporate between defrost periods. The defrost is controlled by a timer and NOT by the temperature controls.

Whirlpool refrigerator model WRB322DMBM0 1 with ice maker only. How do I find and change the ice maker filter

The Whirlpool WRB322DMBM01 refrigerator model typically does not have a dedicated water filter for the ice maker. Instead, it relies on an external water filtration system or an in-line water filter that may be installed in the water supply line connected to the refrigerator. Here's how you can check for and change the water filter for your ice maker: 1. **Locate the Water Supply Line**: Trace the water supply line that connects to the back of your refrigerator. The water supply line is usually a flexible plastic or metal tube that runs from the water source (such as a water pipe or faucet) to the refrigerator. 2. **Check for an In-Line Water Filter**: Look along the length of the water supply line for any inline water filters. These filters may be attached to the water line using compression fittings or push-to-connect fittings. They are typically cylindrical or rectangular in shape. 3. **Inspect the Filter**: If you find an in-line water filter, inspect it to determine its type and condition. Some filters have a label indicating the brand and model number, while others may have a date or indicator showing when it was last replaced. 4. **Replace the Filter (if Necessary)**: If the water filter is due for replacement or is visibly dirty or clogged, follow the manufacturer's instructions for replacing it. This typically involves turning off the water supply, disconnecting the filter from the water line, and installing a new filter in its place. 5. **Flush the System**: After installing the new filter, flush the water system to remove any air or debris. Run water through the dispenser or activate the ice maker to purge the system of any trapped air or loose particles. 6. **Monitor Performance**: Monitor the performance of your ice maker and water dispenser to ensure that the new filter is functioning correctly. It may take a few cycles for the water system to fully adjust to the new filter. If you cannot find an in-line water filter connected to your refrigerator's water supply line, it's possible that your refrigerator does not have a built-in water filtration system for the ice maker. In this case, you may need to consider installing an external water filtration system to improve the quality of your ice and water.
