Try downloading theprinter driver from the Lexmark WEB site.

Make sure you are inserting a genuine Lexmark cartridge. Try to insert a different known working cartridge, maybe your old black cartridge, to determine if your new cartridge is faulty. If inserting your old black cartridge gives you a message saying "very low ink" or something to that effect, then most probably there's something wrong with the new black cartridge. Have it replaced with a new one from the store where you bought it from. You may also contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for assistance.

Please update your printer driver. Visit the Lexmark website at http://bit.ly/aKlcOJ. Select your operating system, download and execute the file. After updating your printer driver, try to scan again.

Please follow the steps below to identify and fix the problem:

1. Make sure the printer is on.

2. Open the printer cover. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless the All-in-One is busy.

3. Remove both cartridges from the carrier.

4. Close the printer cover.

5. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it.

6. When the printer turns on, reinsert one cartridge first.

7. Close the printer cover and check for any errors.

8. If no error appears, reinsert the other cartridge. Close the printer cover.

9. You can try to insert a different known working cartridge to determine if the other is faulty.

If cartridges are faulty, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for assistance and see if they can replace it for you. Please provide them a Proof of Purchase for both the cartridges.

The prompt to do an alignment could be due to the cartridges in the carrier. Please follow the steps below to fix the problem:

1. Make sure the printer is on.

• Make sure the power cord is plugged in securely and directly to the power outlet. Power surge protectors can draw power away from the printer.
• Disconnect the power cord from the power outlet and the back of the printer and then reconnect it.
• Check the power supply box (if there is one) to see if it is warm or cold, as there could be a defective power supply issue.
• If there is access to a voltmeter, test the power supply to ensure that it registering the correct amount of voltage (most Lexmark printers have a 30Volt output).
• Make sure the correct power supply is connected to the printer.

Above is the link to Lexmarks website and the drive your need. Simply click on the link, below Recommended downloads. This will open a new window to confirm that you want to dowload the new driver. Save the file to your desktop, or somewere you can find it. Then open the file when the download completes. Follow and on screen prompts and you should be good.

The cable you need is called a "USB 2,.0 A/B cable". They are very common and you should need at least a 6 foot cable. They do come in various lengths depending upon you needs.

First thing to do is try and uninstall and reinstall the latest drivers available from lexmark, here is the link:

What is it that you need to do? By the look of Lexmark's web description the imaging studio looks like a very simple image editor.
Have a look at iPhoto - it's already installed on your mac and will probably do much much more than Imaging Studio does.

Lexmark does not recommend using refilled cartridges. However, if you have successfully used one before, there's a possibility that the refilled cartride got damaged along the process of refilling. Try to insert a different known working cartridge to determine if the other is faulty. Or better yet, try to purchase a new genuine Lexmark cartridge.
