The Lexmark X2500 User's Guide can show the step-by-step instructions on how to scan images/pictures to computer.

To send fax using the Lexmark X2500, the printer has to be connected to a computer with a fax modem. The Lexmark Fax Solutions software must be installed on your computer. The software is available on the installation disc that comes with your printer.

Try to unplug the power adapter from the printer.


Check if it's warm or cold. It could be a defective power adapter issue. Unplug and replug the power cord into the power outlet to reset it. Bypass any surge devices or power strips. Replug the power adapter into the printer. The printer should automatically turn on, otherwise press Power button.
If problem continues, then it could be a faulty power adapter problem. I'd suggest you to contact Lexmark technical support for additional assistance.

Both the 29 and the 29A cartridge work on the Lexmark X2500 printer. The 29 cartridge is a single-use cartridge while the 29A is the regular cartridge that you or a third-party can refill or remanufacture (available on the Lexmark website).

Make sure to select the correct version of your operating system (Windows 7 x32 or Windows 7 x64) and then you can download the software.

If you're not sure whether you're using Win 7 32 or 64, go to your Start menu, right-click on Computer and select Properties. It should tell you on the first screen which version you're using.

Try to remove the sheets of paper from the feeder. Open the printer cover and remove the cartridges. Close the printer cover. Unplug and replug the printer into the power outlet in the wall to reset it. When the printer turns on, reinsert the cartridges. Load some paper and try to print again.

To check the ink levels using your computer, Click Start menu > Programs or All Programs > Lexmark 2500 Series > select Lexmark Solution Center. In the main dialog screen, the ink levels are displayed.

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Frequently, issues are caused simply by a break in the signal sent from PC to printer or vice versa. Unplugging and re-plugging the printer allows the small amount of on-board memory on the printer to be cleared, with the result that the PC recognizes the machine properly. Programs continuing to run in the background of the operating system (OS) can cause the signal to be lost. Rebooting the PC ends all programs that may be running and makes a 'clean' start, allowing the signal to be detected.

Your cartridge nozzles may need to be cleaned. Open the Lexmark Solution Center. From the Maintenance tab, click Clean to fix horizontal streaks. Click Print. A page prints, forcing ink through the print cartridge nozzles to clean them.

I know this is going to sound odd, but did you install a new cartridge? My son worked on his for a while after putting in a new cartridge and couldn't get it to print. His friend, who is very good with computers and all helped, and to no avail they couldn't get it to work.
The printer at that time was very new, so we didn't think that could the problem...they were missing something. As it was, they were so intent on installing and setting it all up, they put the cartridges in without removing the tape that is placed over the end of the cartridge after being manufactured. Once they realized and removed both tapes, everything worked out fine.
It could be something that simple...if you were in a hurry. And, yes, I know it sounds impossible, but I KNOW THAT THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED so it could happen again. Good luck.

OCR stands for Optical Character Reader and the software is generally part of the original installation. If your machine will not function without it you can visit Lexmark's support site (link below) and download the software that originally came with your printer.

On the system where your printer is installed, if you are using a windows operating system, click on START then PRINTER AND FAXES. Windows will open windowed environment for you, here you will see your installed printer. Right-click on it and select SHARING. Follow instruction and share your printer. However, if the printer has been installed, but it do not print on the installed system, please right-click on the printer's name and select MAKE DIFAULT. Goodluck.

There could be something blocking the paper path. Remove the sheets of paper from the feeder. Grab a flashlight and look into the feeder for any debris or foreign objects. If you're capable and willing, you may carefully lift the printer upside down so that any debris in the feeder will just freely roll out. If none debris found, lift the printer cover and remove the cartridges. While the cover is open check for any obstructions in the paper path. If none, close the cover. Unplug and replug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reinsert the cartridges. Load some paper. Try to print again. If paper jam continues, please don't hesitate to contact Lexmark technical support for additional assistance.

Delete the job on the printer, restart the computer after that try to restart the windows service: printer spooler.
