Samsung SCH-u740 Cellular Phone - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
My Cell Phone is Offline Mode
when water enters into your mobile it leaves tiny slat particles after it is dried.so the components on the motherboard are blocked by these salts so it is recommended to clean the mother board with isoparaffin solutions and then you can try your luck (or) you can let the pros do it take your phone to the service centre.
Transfering music from your computer to the phone
when you plug in the phone to the computer, go into menu- tools - mass storage- connect to computer and just look for the removable disk storage on " my computer" transfer all your music files to the media folder. hope this helps if you haven't gotten it to work
Phone will not charge
Check and make sure the charger is working, both the cord and the connector. You can either use a different charger to see if your phone charges, and/or charge another device with the charger/cord. If you can't be sure, it's an inexpensive fix to either buy a new charger/cord. If both are working well on other devices, check the website of the phone manufacturer.
Message Receipt Failed
Check your multimedia message settings for your SMS/MMS app. Check to see if its set to only download a certain limit. You might be set to something less than 1 MB. Can you receive normal text messages?
Samsung SCH-U740 Master Reset
Let me elaborate. On your phone press the:
1. Menu--scroll to Tools & Settings---press OK
2. Look for Security, press OK
3. Enter the last 4 digits of your phone #, or whatever you set the lock code to.
4. There should be an option to delete contacts. Becareful not to press the Reset Default option, for it will erase everything (ringtones, pix, filx, screensavers, etc..)
**If the Security option is not seen in the Tools and Settings, then choose Call Settings or Phone Settings. It should be in one of these.
Is it possible to recover
Were the photos initially stored in the phone's microSD card? If so, you can take the card out, insert it in your computer and run a photo recovery program on it.
- Installing and run a Photo Recovery app on your Mac/Win. Choose Photo Recovery from the recovery types.
- Click on "Photo" on the main interface. Connect your memory card with Mac, then select the memory device recovery. With "Only scan deleted files" checked, only the lost photo files will be checked.
- After hitting on the "Next" button in the previous step, you will get into the photo file scanning section. The app will check files for you intensively. You can have a preview on these photo files during scanning.

I had the same problem with my old phone the Samsung A660. After 45 minutes on phone with Bell Mobility tech support (which did nothing to cure the problem) I fiddled around with the settings abit, and found there is a setting for something called NAM1 and NAM2. I changed it to NAM1 and I was able to access the browser again! I'm not sure though if the U740 has this NAM1 and NAM2 setting. This what to did for the A660:
- Press MENU
- Scroll to (7) SETTINGS, Press OK
- Scroll to (8) OTHERS, Press OK
- Scroll to (5) SET NAM
- Press OK
Options:
NAM 1
NAM 2
- Scroll to option, Press OK to set
I can't format my new micro sd card
The Samsung Alias works with microSD cards. Your 8GB card is actually a microSDHC card and will not work in devices not designed to work with them. You need to use a microSD card, 2GB or smaller.
