My whirlpool Fridge/freezer powers up but both fridge and freezer notworking,have defrosted the freezer but noluck,have turned on foran hourand then back again,as per user guide still no luck.

Go slow and thorough. A little lost food is far better than a messed up machine.
Patience is your friend here.

Put your food in an ice cooler and call a repair person if the frig is new enough to justify repairs.

Temperature control may have failed. Thermostat causes compressor to cycle on and off with temperature in the refrigerator section. If the compressor is not trying to run and is cold to the touch no power is getting to it. compressor is located in back on the bottom.

Additionally the defrost timer may have stopped working while in the defrost position. Locate the timer and rotate the clutch head screw clockwise a small amount and if the compressor starts and runs replace the timer.

Check the fan that moves the air from the freezer side to the refrigerator side. It is either stuck in ice or not working. Defrost the refrigerator for 24 hours and then restart it Listen for the fan operation be aware that the fan may shut off when you open the door, so listen closely. Defrosting it may fix or the fan may need to be replaced.

you will need to take the upper hinge off first, then the door will lift off the bottom hinge. Then take off bot hinge and move both hinges to the holes on the other side. As far as the handel goes, you may need to flip it over or switch the handel to the other side

yes, it does this, it is in defrost cycle.

Remove the bottom panel from the front of the fridge. Look for a small motor with a screw slot in it. Turn the srewdriver slowly and only clockwise, until a click is heard. wait about 3-5 minutes and check if the walls of the freezer are getting warm. If they do all you need is a defrost timer. That's the thing you just activated, by the way. More often than not you can find them at the dump in the appliance pile, OR you may have just gotten it to work for another year. Keep a close eye. Sounds like the freezer/refrigerator circulating fan is wearing out. When this fan starts to wear out the fans force is reduced to a point that it will keep the freezer cold, but doesn't have enough force to circulate air thru the refrigerator. The minimum cost to repair this problem is around $300.00

This clicking noise is a bad relay.
Get it serviced before you run in to a real problem

If there is no cooling on the evaporator or only partial cooling then you probably have a gas leak, or the compressor is not pumping correctly. Either way you would need a professional diagnosis. Either way not a good scenario. Hope this helps.

I need more information. If this is a frost free freezer with an internal fan I need to know what the freezer temp is. If a manuel defrost it is supposed to frost up. You defrost it 2 - 3 times a year when the frost builds up over 3/4 inch. If it frosts up faster than this check to see if the door is sealing all the way around. There should be no gaps or cracks in the gasket.
