Possible electrical problem

The DL code is door lock. The manufacture explanation of the code is here then my comments follow.

A Door Lock Error occurs if the door cannot be locked. It
will try to lock it six times before displaying the error code.

Possible Causes / Procedure
■ Door lock mechanism is broken or removed from door.
■ Door switch/lock unit failure.
1. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
2. Check door switch/lock unit.
3. Check the wire harness connections to the door switch/
lock unit and Central Control Unit (CCU).

Phil's comments------>

It it almost always a failure of the door latch mechanism. The part number is 8182634 and cost around $45.00

Here is a parts break down to show you where the component is located it is part #7 in this drawing. Sorry about all the trouble you are having, it is usually a good machine and I have one at home myself.

"Control Locked" on panel

Try unplugging the unit from the wall for a few seconds, then plug in. If still locked, contact an appliance service company. You may have an issue with the door lock mechanism.

I have a five year old Whirlpool gas dryer. It

The problem is the coils are failing. They tend to fail as they heat up and eventually just quit. They are inexpensive and easy to replace. It could also be several other things thermal fuse, thermal cut out, hi limit thermostat, heat sensor,or igniter. All of these parts are inexpensive and easy to test and replace. There is a video at www.appliancehelponline.com/servicemanual.html this will walk you thru the troubleshooting of these components. It may be a different model but the troubleshooting will be the same. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations. Not all models are available. If you need help disassembling your machine there are videos of this also for most styles.

Can i extend the length of discharge pipe to 15 feet

No problem adding the extra hose as long as you don't cause the water path to be more work than the pump can furnish, i.e., don't let the hose's height exceed its original height.

Control locked light is on on my whirlpool duet

The Control Lock is a safety feature that allows the consumer to lock the control panel to prevent small children from manipulating the controls and accidentally starting the appliance. It can inadvertently be set following a power outage, or by leaning against the control panel and usually is not an indication of a washer malfunction.

If this is a Maytag Epic, Whirlpool Duet, or Kenmore Elite, the following link explains how to lock/unlock this feature:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3608801-control_panel_lock

These instructions are also printed on the front panel of the appliance and in the owner's manual. If this does not correct your problem, then you may have a more serious problem than a simple operator control issue. If you need further assistance, please let me know. I hope this corrects the problem for you.

NOTE: If you cannot locate your owner's manual, you can download or print a FREE copy at managemylife.com. Just type in your model number under the "Manuals" link and you will find your manual listed in a .pdf (Adobe) format.
