BROTHER MFC 5840cn MACHINE ERROR 4F
Downloaded service & repair manual for brother mfc 5840CW- my unit. Will follow repair directions to check the memory then replace required parts. Will be cheaper and faster than finding a repair shop and paying as much as the macine to fix it! Rip off prices for repairs today on units so they can get you to leave them and buy a new one. Then they fix the unit and sell it "refurbished"- not mine!
Your information on clearing memory, the ink cleaning codes and taping the cartridge from over cleaning was good. Thanks for the help!
Brother dcp115c unable to print error
High probability it is a waste ink count or "error 46" code fault. There are purge count reset codes available on line, but you should also remove and clean out the waste ink chamber. It is a messy job and given the age of the machine, you may be better off replacing it
Brother dcp115c. alignment must be out its printing double
No you don't have to take it to be serviced. There is a work around for this. It is not an ideal work around but given the low cost of these printers they probably aren't worth spending the money on at a service center.
OK the Fix is, you simply turn OFF BiDirectional printing in the printer driver settings.
The printer will then print correctly.
Also I'm sure if you could obtain the service software for alignment it's probably not beyond the abilities of a back yarder. :)
Hope this helps.
