Controls locked

The Control Lock prevents unintended use of the washer. You can also use the control lock feature to prevent unintended cycle or option changes during a cycle. When CONTROL LOCKED is lit, all buttons are disabled except for Pause/Cancel and Start. You can lock the controls while the washer is operating. To lock the controls: Select and hold DRAIN & SPIN for 3 seconds. The CONTROL LOCKED status light glows. To unlock the controls: Select and hold DRAIN & SPIN for 3 seconds or until the CONTROL LOCKED Status light turns off.

Hi,does the whirlpool awm 9000

I am not aware of any washers that have built in heaters. Your problem seems to be with your hot water supply in the house. If you have a hot water heater gas or propane pilot may be out, or electric possibly tripped curciut breaker, or if furnace coil , possible furnace servicing is required. Did you just have new machine installed? Did installer forget to turn on the hot water? Basically before you get to upset go backwards from the machine to the problem. It will turn out to be an oversight due to the excitement with your new machine. Enjoy, and GOOD LUCK.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Whirlpool's 'F16, 18, 20, 21 and 22' all refer to 'control unit failure I'm afraid. Sounds like a service call is required, sorry ;-0(

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

What does F 21 mean

The F21 error code indicates a long drain time on this type of washer. The door will not unlock if the washer control detects that water is still in the tub. To manually unlock the washer door, take these steps:
- Unplug the washer to completely disconnect electrical power.
- Remove the bottom front service panel as shown in the first image below.
- Carefully reach up through the bottom opening and pull the release tab on the bottom of the door lock assembly until it clicks.

NOTE: Internal metal edges in the washer can be sharp. Protective gloves are recommended for this procedure.

By pulling the manual release tab on the door lock assembly, you should be able to get the washer door open.

After opening the door and removing the clothes, I recommend emptying any remaining water in the tub with a wet/dry vacuum (or bail it out). Since you already have the bottom front service panel off and the washer unplugged, you can arrange shallow pans and towels to catch any remaining water and pull the large item filter out of the drain pump assembly as shown in the second image below. You may find a clog in this area that is preventing your washer from draining properly. Clear any clog or debris from this area and reassemble the washer. Check your drain hose for a kink or clog. Check the washer house drain for a clog or restriction. Test the washer to see if it will drain properly.

Other issues that can cause this problem include:
- Not using HE (High Efficiency) detergent
- Using too much regular or HE detergent

These issues can cause oversudsing in the washer. The drain pump will not able to pump out suds. Make sure that you are only using the appropriate amount of HE detergent in the washer. If you have a water softener, you may need as little as a tablespoon of HE detergent.

If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional details and the full model number of your HE2 washer or check other tips in THIS LINK.

Hope helps (remember to rate and coomment this free answer)..

Whirlpool duet

F74--UI Eeprom failure

It appears your timer/main controller/CCU has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question

Can you tell where is

You have to tip the machine backwards and let it lean on wall.# Then you can remove the lower panel on front which is fixed using 3 torx 15 (T15) screws. Take off panel and you can see the filter assembly facing you. Simply unscrew it. Do though take care to clean all calcium off all the seals before putting it back to avoid any leaks.

Whirlpool AWM9000 front loader Gives SUD

Hi,
it is a Long Drain error

If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes, the water valves are turned off and "F/02" is flashed.
NOTE: After 4 minutes the "Sud" error will be displayed, then 4 minutes later the F02 error code will be displayed.

Press PAUSE/CANCEL twice to clear the display.
  • Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked.
  • Check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure the pump is running.
  • Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects.
  • If the above does not correct the problem, replace the pump.
Thank You

You have to remove the bottom front panel, 3 torx screws underneath. The panel will drop and come off. Drain off the excess water from the drain pipe you see. The white filter cover is right in front. Get yourself a good plastic bag to collect water. Unscrew the filter cover and twist the filter out. Clean out all the stuff and put it back in carefully. Check your pump too, comes after the filter.

On some models the filter is located ‘inside’ the big hose from the bottom of the tub. This takes more time to clean.

F11 ON WHIRLPOOL FRONT LOAD WASHER GHW9150PW1

Below I give you some solutions picked from this site. There are five down para-wise You may find some very useful:

I had same error code F11 and DL.....I sprayed the door lock (inside) with WD40......so far works OK

I had the same F11/DL problem. I tighten the two screws on the door latch and it's working great. for now

Just some part numbers to help if you need to order parts. For the GHW9200LWO Washer (Sanitary Cycle Model)- the part number for the CCU (Microcomputer or main computer) is 8181924. The part number for the Motor Control Unit (MCU) is 8182706. I did a search for the part numbers and found the CCU for $79.90 shipping included - the same part from Whirlpool was $190 plus with shipping included. I put the CCU on and my washer works perfectly again. Hope this helps someone since I had such a hard time finding out the correct part numbers. Whirlpool first sent me the MCU even though I specifically told them it was not that part but the CCU.

DL is a door lock error. This is usually an indication of a bad door latch. F11 is a serial communications error from the Central Control Unit CCU (which is your main computer). If the door latch is defective it could be generating the communications error code as well. A defective CCU can also give the same symptoms, though. Before replacing any parts, however, double check all you connections to make sure you don't have any loose wires. The least expensive of the two possible solutions would be to replace the door latch (about $50). The CCU can run between $150 and $250. Hope this leads you in the right direction.

I wanna thank all of you for your input. I had the "DL F-11" code also. My washer would run 12 minutes and then stop with the annoying beep and error codes. After learning that the "DL" was the door lock, I decided to order the part online for 50 bucks. After I placed the order I decided to take this $50 thing apart and give it a look-see. (Boys like to tear things apart!)
There is a solenoid inside that actuates the lock. My finding was that there was some hardened goo that seeped out of the solenoid. It didn't look good! I believe this to have caused an electrical imbalance that the computer didn't like, thus sending it into error mode.
Removal and installation was a snap. First I took the top off. Then to make room for my arm to get to the door-lock, I pushed the drum all the way back and held it in place by wedging a shoe in the front end. Then I pushed the drum to the side, opposite the door-lock, and wedged it with another shoe. This gave me plenty of room to reach the door-lock. Unplug the three connectors and remove the three screws from the front side of the door-lock. (Inside door at 2:00.)
Reverse order for the install!
Thanks again for your posts which led me in the right direction!
