Findng or resetting my wireless network password
You can find the Wireless Network Security key after login to the Router from the Wireless settings of the Router.
Please refer the User Guide of the Router for the instruction to login to the Router or provide the information about the Router (like model number of the Router) so that we can provide the instruction to login to the Router.
Also, you can find the Wireless Network Security Key by using any third party utility like "
Wireless Key Viewer" to scan and view the saved Wireless key in the Computer.
Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!
Black Screen at full brightness
It sounds like your backlight or inverter is failing, and soon you won't be able to see a picture on any setting. This is common for LCD screens over time, they start out with the occasional blackout and then progressively get worse. You can take it to be repaired, but the cost severely outweighs the cost of purchasing a new laptop.
Hard disk ST9120822AS ATA Device
If the computer cannot Bootup with an error message that hard drive nor detected or no boot device then you could have a faulty hard disk.
Go into the BIOS configuration and see if the BIOS detects the hard disk. If it is not detected then it is probably faulty.
Next reset the ATA data cable on the hard drive and at the motherboard. Bootup the computer again, also check the BIOS configuration again to see if it detects the hard drive.
If it still does not find the hard drive then remove the hard drive and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter and plug it into a working computer's USB port. If this computer does not detect it as an external hard drive then this proves the hard drive is faulty.
To get your computer working again, replace the hard drive and install Windows together with the device drivers and your programs.
I need a vga driver for my dell inspiron 1501
Albert,
Go to
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&SystemID=INS_PNT_1501&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=-1&impid=-1
and download the driver that you want. I would recommend that you download all the drivers and burn a CD for future use.
My dell inspiron touch pad will not work in
If you have your pre-installed software try going into your device manager and double click the "mouse/pointing device"
Under "driver" Uninstall this item and then restart your computer.
When you do your computer will see that the device is not installed and ask to install it. Have it install using software on your computer unless it cannot locate it. In this case you will need your pre-installed drivers.
If this does not work have your computer go on line to search for a better driver.
Thank you!
Laptop turns on but screen is black and capslock
put the old memory back in and boot into the BIOS. Check the options: "Quick Boot" and "Boot time diagnostics". These should be disabled and enabled, respectively. Put the new memory back in one stick at a time and make sure they work on their own, then try with both sticks.
My color on my lap top went to purple you could
power on laptop keep tapping F8 then select last known good configuration. if fails then boot in safe mode then uninstall then reinstall video driver. if fails then connect laptop to an external monitor check if the display is purple from the ext monitor then if yes this might replace motherboard if not then LCD is the problem.
My laptop rebooted itself for updates. However,
Boot the laptop, and immediately after you see the DELL splash screen, start pressing F8. This will display a startup menu with a few different options. Choose the option that says "Last Known Good Configuration" - this will back out the last update changes that may have caused your problems. Good luck!!
My laptop was working fine and then it made a
A funny squeaking noise may mean that your Hard Drive has crashed. Try to get into your BIOS (hold the F2 key (or whatever it says to use to get to Setup). If it goes to Bios, then you know the screen is working. Restart Windows normally. Hold down the F8 key this time, to try to get to Safe Mode. Go ahead and use the arrow keys to choose Safe mode with Network Support. Since this needs your Hard drive you can verify its operation. If no go then you will probably need to replace your Hard Drive.
Bottom right corner of the LCD screen is very hot
I would first search the internet and Dells website to see if there is a recall on this item. If there is, they will replace for free.
Changing the inverter in screens always seems to complicate the LCD. I prefer to just purchase a new screen and everything works great. I replaced an inverter on a couple and had to change them again and again do to them slipping.
Replacing the screen is a bit more expensive but will save you time and money in the long run.
Computer turns on but screen stays black
This is often caused by the screen lights or screen failing. Try looking at the screen from different angles in different light conditions, you might just be able to see the image.
