Upgrading memory
Open all the hatches underneath the unit, there is a chance that the only memory slot you find is empty as the current RAM in the system might be on-board or somewhere else. If none of the hatches under the unit reveal the RAM slot then it would be under the keyboard. On the toughbooks I use there is four screws above the keyboard holding it down. On your there may be a plastic piece that needs to be removed to reveal the screws or you may have to remove some screws from the bottom to loosen the keyboard.

Pan. toughbook c-29 light will turn/flash on but hd won't startup or screen
sounds like a capacitor issue with the boards secondary supply side to me, recommend you dis assymble and check capacitors with low esr meter to determine which way to start trouble shooting power delivery issue. Obviously your getting power to the plug but have you LOAD tested the power supply? Try another one to see?

Panasonic Cf-48 toughbook pentium 4 windows
I don't know what version of windows your running but try first going into the bios on your laptop and disabling your adapter. Then see if you can boot windows to try and find out if it is a hardware or software problem. If you can boot windows after disabling in bios you have some idea now what to look for. Instructions for how to enter bios should be in your manual for your Toughbook or posted on Panasonic's web site for your machine

Powers off by its self!
First, have you verified that the cooling fan is working? Next, check to verify that the cooling vents are not plugged up. Also, some systems have cooling fins mounted on the CPU that get crudded up with dust. It's better to use canned air rather than a vacuum because of possible problems with static.

Keyboard Circuit Faulty?
Since all of the failing keys are on the right hand side, I'd try a short (maybe 15 minutes) soak in warm soapy water of the right hand 1/2 of the keyboard. While it is soaking, every few minutes try depressing the failing keys several time each. Follow this with a good rinse with warm water and a good drying. A hair drier will help to speed up the process. If that doesn't work, you'll probably need to find a replacement keyboard.

Screen upside down on a panasonic CF-T8
On any Panasonic Toughbook you can rotate the screen as follows:
Hold down the "CTRL" and the "ALT" keys and while holding down
these two keys press the "UP Arrow" key and then release all
three keys. This will reset the screen so it is right side up instead
of upside down.
Good Luck and regards from:

P.S. The arrow keys look like this: The up arrow is the one on the top

Screen stays dark
On ALL Panasonic Toughbook Models,
if the screen stays dark I would shut-off the
Toughbook and connect an external monitor
to the VGA port (15-pin female connector),
which is usually BLUE in color.
Make sure the monitor is ON first, then
turn ON the Toughbook.
If the monitor comes on then your problem
is the backlight or possibly the inverter of the
screen.
If no image is shown on the external monitor
and the screen stays dark and you cannot
hear any startup (ie. Windows) sound, then
your video card may be defective. Very few
Toughbooks fail this way since they are
normally very very relaible but it can happen.
Good Luck

Laptop dies when unplugged
Panasonic Toughbook PC Laptops usually have
very reliable battery pack. When your unit is plugged-in
but the Power is OFF, you should see an LED light as follows:
RED FLASHING: Means the battery needs replacement.
Orange/Yellow Solid: Means battery is charging.
Solid Green: Means battery is fully charged.
NO Light AT ALL: Means that Battery Pack is missing.
There is also a battery calibration utility on all Panasonic
Toughbook PC's manufactured since 2004. This is a factory
installed software and is only present in factory units.
This software may also be downloaded as a driver from the
Panasonic Toughbook website as follows:
http://pc-dl.panasonic.co.jp/dl/
Check also in the bottom right hand corner under
Windows for the battery Icon. This will indicate if
the battery is charging, present or not present,
and under Windows 7+ will indicate if the battery
needs to be replaced or not.
Good Luck!
