My control knobs are getting

Sounds like the Venturi Valves on the burner may be partially clogged and the flame is big firing around the burner orifice. This is fixable, but requires removing and cleaning all the burners and their venturi valves.

One other thing it might be, and this will depend on how old the grill is and how well cared for the grill is. The burner's manifold may be leaking. That's a more serious problem, that requires quite a bit of work to replace.

Go with the first solution first and if the doesn't solve the problem, it will be the second one.

Hope this helps you troubleshoot and solve the problem.

I have a 2005 Weber

Jeanne - Did you remove the burner to clean? If not. you weren't able to clean the Venturi Valve, which is part of the burner. Spiders love to get in the Venturi Valve & build a nest. When that happens it stops the gas to that burner. I suspect, that may be the problem. The Venturi Valve, is part of the burner (the open end part) that's closest to you, when you face the front of the grill. It will look like 2 slots (one on each side) cut out of the burner tube, where it fits over the burner orifice. But, you can't see it, without removing the burner. An old tooth brush works well to clean it.

Hope this helped you to solve the problem. Please let me know and Happy Grilling!!

My weber grill silver will not get hot over the

Since I was not familiar with the term you used "will not get over the test heat." I took a look at the Owner's Manual for you model grill. The only reference I could find to temperature was in the section about preheating the grill to 550 degrees F. That being the case, I guess that's what you may have been referring too.

To solve this problem do the following, as I believe falme heights on the Highest settings are not what they should be.

First, check the gas line hose from the tank to the grill. Look for kinks or twisting that would restrict the flow of gas to the burners. If you find any, turn the gas tank valve OFF, disconnect the hose from the tank and straighten the hose, before reconnecting it to the tank. Then open the gas valve Very, Very Slowly, until it's fully open.

If you didn't find any kins ot twist, do the following:

1. Turn the gas tank valve OFF, Disconnect the hose from the tank and wait 5 minutes.
2. Turn on any pair of burners to High for io minute and then turn them OFF.
3. After 5 minutes has elapsed, reconnect the hose to the tank.
4. Open the tank valve VERY, VERY, SLOWLY (Slow motion, slow) until it's fully open.
5. Light the burner farthest from the tank first and turn it to HIGH. Does the flame height look
correct? If so, light the remaining burners the same way. Do all the flame heights look correct?
If so, you solved the problem!
6, Close the grill lid and allow 10 - 15 minutes for the grill to preheat to your desired temperature.

If the above didn't solve the problem. The problem, may in fact be a faulty Thermometer. To test it, invest $5.00 in an Oven Thermometer, like you use in a regular oven, that will sit on the oven rack. But, in this case will sit on the cooking grates.

Set the thermometer on the cooking grates, light all the burners, close the lid an allow the grill to preheat for 10 minutes. Then read the temp on the grill thermometer, open the lid an compare it to the Oven thermometer on the grill grates. I'm willing to bet, the oven thermometer will read higher. That's because, it's right down on the cooking grates and not reading the air temperature, like the grill thermometer is. That's why, I all ways use an oven thermometer on my own grill. It's more accurate.

Hope this helped you solve the problem. Please let me know and Happy Grilling.

The problem you're experiencing is usually caused by dirty or clogged burner and the burner's venturi valves (part of each burner, located on the open end of the burner). Removing and thoroughly cleaning the burners and the valves will resolve the problem. It will also give you the opportunity to inspect each burner for rust. Be sure to turn the tank valve OFF, before attempting any service on the grill. When completed and ready to test the burners, turn the tank valve ON, Very, Very Slowly (Slow motion, slow), until the vlave is fully open. Then light the burner farthest from the tank first and set it on HIGH. Light the remaining burners the same way.

Hope this helped you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Happy Grilling!!

I have a weber genisis

Hi nasanelg...

If all the venturis and holes of the burner is clear then the problem has to be either a defective hose or gas pressure regulator.
If it is defective hose then the whole gas regulator and hose assembly will have to be replaced as they come normally as a unit.

Try this: Take the hose off of the gas tank and take a small hammer and tap a little more than "lightly" on the gas regulator, sometimes the valve inside will get stuck and not function properly and not allow enough gas to enter the grill burners. Reinstall the gas regulator back on the grill and try to see if it allows more gas now...if not, try tapping a little harder and try again.
If it again fails to deliver any more gas to the grill, then it is defective and you will need to replace it with a new one, if you can find one that has an gas adjustment knob/plug on it I would recommend that you purchase that one as you will be able to adjust the flow of gas to the burners.
I hope this solves your problem.

We have a Weber Genesis

Well, if turning OFF the tank valve, disconnecting the hose and wait 5 minutes before reconnecting it. And then, opening the tank valve VERY, VERY, SLOWLY (Slow motion slow) before lighting the burner farthest from the tank first and turning it to high didn't work. You need to replace the grill's hose/regulator assembly.

You can purchase one at any home center or hardware store that sells gas grills and accessories. They run around $30.00. Be sure to take your old one with you for comparison purposes.

Hope this helped you and Happy Grilling!!

I have cleaned all of the inside of grill because

Have you tried to manually light the burners with a lighter? If so and you can not light the burners then you have 1 of 3 things that usually happen. First and forth most you have a blockage in the lines. You should be able to hear gas going throught the line and out of the vent. If you couldnt light the burners manually then this is probally the issue. Check your lines and connections at the bottom of the burners. The second thing could be that is your tank is just to low or empty. I have left the burners on and ran through my gas with out knowing it so check the tank. The last thing it might be is the regulator is broken. After checking the lines for blockage you have to check the gas regulator on your hose and the tank. If it is this problem let me know after you get through the rewst of the checks.

Thanks

The crossover tube won't ignite past the first

If the cross over tube burner has rusted to the point of collapse is a pretty good indicator that it needs to be replaced. I personally, don't see in correlation between LP tank and the collapse of the crossover tube burner. A weak tank, as you called it, would not have any bearing to it.

Now, if you're match lighting the other burners and the flame height remains low, even when turned to high. That's a problem with the grills regulator, which can easily be solved.

Turn the Tank Valve OFF and disconnect the hose from the tank. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose to the tank. Open the tank valve VERY, VERY Slowly (Slow motion, slow), until the valve is fully open. Light the burner farthest from the tank first and turn the burner to HIGH. If the flame height now, looks correct, light the remaining burners the same way. If all the flame heights have returned to normal, you solved that problem.

if it didn't solve the problem, you need to replace the grill's hose/regulator assembly and the crossover tube. The hose/regulator assembly can be purchased at any home center or hardware store, that sells gas grills and accessories. Tank the old one with you for comparison purposes. The Crossover Burner can be purchased from Weber or Factory Appliance Parts http://www.appliancefactoryparts.com/

Hope this aids you in troubleshooting and solving the problem. Please let me know. Thanks and Happy Grilling!!

Very low flame like it is not getting gas.

If you're using a 20 Lb propane tank. First be sure you have adequate gas in the tank. If that checks out OK, turn the gas tank valve OFF and disconnect the hose from the tank. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose to the tank valve and turn it ON VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow motion, slow). Once the valve is fully open light the burner farthest from the tank first and turn it to it's highest setting. Has the flame height returned to normal? If so, light the remaining burner(s) the same way. Do all the flame heights look normal, now? If so, you solved the problem. Just remember to always turn the tank valve on very, very slowly.

If the above didin''t solve the problem, you will need to replace the grill's hose/regulator assembly. You can purchase one at any home center or hardware store that sells gas grills and accessories. Take you old one with you for comparison purposes.

Hope this helped you solve the problem. Please let me know and Happy Grilling!!
