It just started today. When someone is speaking on a tv show, there is a VERY annoying high pitched noise that correlates with the person talking. My set is only 2 years old. HELP

go into the settings menus and reset it to factory default. Then set it up from sctatch. Of the problem persists you will know that it is a hardware issue in which case a technician can look at it.

Screen went black sound works, also small upper left screen works for some kind of video description.?

If you can get settings menus up reset the tv to factory default. Should it start working autotune it. Ensure it is set to digital output if it is analog/digital. Also check the aerial/antenna installation is properly connected. If there is some display and sound then I suspect the fault is not too serious.

My Sony bravio flat screen tries to turn on and then turns off and the red light flashes continually.

If it is the type that uses a main light bulb (i.e. ''DLP''), it means the bulb is bad. If it is an LCD (or Plasma), then it is likely a bad power board.

TV switches off & on again when channel changed

Fault in the main power supply regulator board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

How do I do a complete reset of a Sony Bravia KDL 26S5500 as it keeps turning itself on and off at will.

There are two types of reset to TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset; and the other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight; will be better. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Service mode entry, adjust and exit procedure to many popular brand TVs are given. Never forget to exit the service mode, after all adjustments have been done.

My Sony Bravia TV will not turn on. the power light flashes red 7 times then stops for 4 seconds then repeats

System Error:
  • If a Red LED is blinking and the TV is not working properly it means that the TV has detected an issue or problem. Most Red LED blink conditions require service. The meaning of the blink codes differs between TV models, but the following steps may resolve user serviceable errors related to heat, temporary conditions, or software updates: NOTE: 8 Times Blink - For certain models, a special reset procedure is needed if the Red LED on the front of the TV is blinking 8 times and then repeats. This is a model-specific issue that may be resolved by following these steps (please check the answer to be sure your model is included). For other TV models or other Red LED blink codes:
    1. Turn the TV off and back on. If the TV will not respond to the remote or the power button, or if that does not fix the issue, unplug the TV. For a Projection TV or Projector , leave it off for 3 minutes. For other TVs leave it off for 1 minute. Plug the TV it back in and turn it on. NOTES:
        • If the TV is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.
        • Projection TVs and projectors need to cool down before they will turn on again. You may need to wait several minutes before these will turn back on.
    2. Clean any vents/slots in the TV cabinet and make sure there is room for air to circulate around the cabinet of the TV.
    3. Some Sony TVs have a media box (tuner) and separate display. If you have one of these TVs, check to make sure the cable between the media box and the display is securely connected.
    4. For Projection TVs and Projectors, make sure that the cover/door for the lamp is closed and secure.
    5. If the TV can be operated at all, check to see if a software update is available.
      • If your TV is connected to the Internet, press the Home or Menu button on the remote to get into the setting menus. The Software Update option is usually found under theProduct Support or Contact Sony menu.
      • NOTE: For a limited number of Internet-capable models, the only option is to turn onAutomatic Software Updates and allow the TV to update on its own. If you only have this option, make sure it is set to On. Automatic updates are only downloaded when the TV is in standby mode (turned off with the remote but not unplugged). Normally this download will happen overnight but may take up to 24 hours.
      • Software and driver updates for your Sony product are available online. You can check to see if a software (firmware) update is available for your television. Steps to install will be included if an update is available.
      • Older CRT TV's and TV's that cannot be connected to the Internet do not have an option to check for a software update or may not capable of being updated.
  • If these options do not resolve the issue, the problem is most likely related to an internal component that must be replaced and service will be required.RF

How do I get the sound to work on Sony bravia tv that suddenly stopped working

Check whether the audio is muted by accidental press at remote control button. Enter its sound menu, and check it. If muted, as you know there will be no audio output. If not muted, check the speaker/s. If found OK; check and replace the damaged component/s at its audio output section circuit board. If needy, replace this board as card basis. My Sony Bravia won't respond to its remote. Won't turn off or show imput.

Depending on the TV model, there were some where the IR (Infrared) board inside the TV failed. It is not the remote that failed. You can test the remote by trying it at a Best Buy store on some of their TV's. If you are somewhat handy, you can easily remove the IR board and send it into a repair service that I located on E-Bay. There was repair service in Indiana and one in California. I sent it to the California and it came back in less than 1 week. I installed it and the TV works fine now.
