Dvi port specification

The DVI [Digital Visual Interface] is a standard for high-speed, high-resolution digital displays.
Below is a 24 Pin DVI Female connector seen at the Computer. The connector diagram and pin-out table show a DVI-I Digital and Analog [RGB]; 29 pins [modified D style] connector. A DVI-D Digital only connector with 24 pins [modified D style] looks about the same with out the 4 analog 'C' pins.

The DVI interface is found on a number of devices including TVs, Computers, Monitors, and Video cards.
Digital Visual Interface [DVI] was developed by the Digital Display Working Group (DDWG).
Note that the Digital Display Working Group disbanded around 2006, so don't expect an up-grade for DVI.

Digital Video Broadcasting/Digital Audio-Visual Council (DVB/DAVIC),
developed by DAVIC [inactive] and DVB [dvb.org].
Adopted by European Telecommunication Standards Institute (ETSI) and
International Telecommunication Union (ITU)
DVI has a number of different types connectors:
DVI-D Digital only connector; 24 pins [modified D style];
DVI-A Analog only; [modified D style], I don't think this is part of the standard
DVI-I Digital and Analog [RGB]; 29 pins [modified D style]
DFP Digital Flat Panel, Digital only connector. Pinout is listed on the DFP page

My Ln37a550p3f a picture goes out with the sound

OK, please read below for some troubleshooting first to narrow down the problem.
First, look at the screen in darkened room to see if you can see any slight glow from the screen, if it does, then the problem can be the T-CON (not getting the 12vdc) or the main logic board not feeding the signals to the T-CON board. if not, next place to check will be the power supply module, make sure it has 24vdc which is required by the backlight inverter to work, the reason for not having 24vdc can be from bad DC filter caps (leaking/bulging top, high ESR) or short circuits in the inverter board which will cause the 24vdc supply to go into shutdown mode, so you may have to disconnect the power cable that feed the inverter board to see if the 24vdc will work without the inverter board hookup, you will need to apply about 3~4 amp of load to the 24vdc to make sure it can handle that. There are fuses on the backlight inverter boards also. So there is some troubleshooting you will have to do to find out the causes of the problem you are having. If you are going to DIY and have proper tools, electronics knowledge, and know safety precaution then please read on: Basic LCD monitor and TV troubleshooting guide: http://www.fixya.com/support/r5093881-lcd_flat_panel_tv_troubleshooting_guide http://www.fixya.com/support/r6150077-basic_lcd_monitors_troubleshooting http://www.fixya.com/support/r7406380-tv_training_manuals Failed TV and Monitors: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm Learn about bad caps: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague Parts: www.shopjimmy.com Capacitors kit: http://lcdalternatives.auctivacommerce.com/Default.aspx he can make you a set of caps. Or www.digikey.com, just make sure to use caps with low ESR, 105c, high ripple current and long life rating such as PANASONIC FM or FC series. Please leave rating if it helps.

Sam-sung LCD TV slow to come on

Normally this problem is due to poor electrolytic capacitors on the power-supply board.
The faulty components can be seen to have swollen tops/liquid leakage..
If you have the necassary skills you can replace them, but use 105 degree, low ESR versions types for long term reliability.

My tv keeps clicking on and off at startup.

Your #1 suspect: LCD inverter, which supplies white light to the screen.

Your #2 suspect: the switched power supply, specifically 24VDC lead that supplies power
to the LCD inverter.

Either way, enjoy your 40-in set while it lasts, since its soon to be heading for a TV repair service.

Monitor doesnt come on .

Sounds like bad capacitors on the power board. Be very careful and remove the Power supply board when working on it. Discharge the caps before working on it. I would replace any caps that are buldging on top and any that test bad of course. Your tv should be fine after that.

When I power tv on, It restarts itself 2 or 3

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV.

Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired of course) and found four bulged capacitors on the PSB. Many major electronics companies Philips/Magnavox, Sony, Panasonic, and others were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 years instead of 10-20. The capacitors fail prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in all sorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems.

Here are some options for you.

1. Have it fixed by a professional $$$$$$$??????? (Is it under warranty?)

Remember, TVs CONTAIN HIGH VOLTAGE AND CAN KILL YOU! Do this at your own risk.

2. Open your TV and find PSB. (The board that the power cord plugs into) Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad caps replace the entire board. The entire board costs around $250 right now because they are in high demand right now. They can be found online. I would definitely shop around though.

3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill.

Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourself it will save you hundreds.

This may be your problem. If you determine that it might be.

I have a Tip/How TO tutorial on this site that may also help. It gives step by step instructions for replacing caps on PSB #715t2432-2. If this is your board you are in luck. Here is the Link: Fixing the Philips Turns/shuts off on its own problem. I'm working on uploading pictures to help guide people though the process as well. Let me know if I can do anything to help.

Hope this helps and if it does please rate it accordingly. Good luck.

We have a 40" LCD Samsung with HD. It was working

If you are using Component Video for connection, this is an EASY fix. The component video cables were installed in the wrong order. Make sure the cables are connected to the right colors as it is very easy to mistakenly cross the Green and Blue cables. Using a flashlight will help so you can see them easier. Don't forget to check that the cables are in the right order on your accessories, too! Hope this helps.

My tv wont turn on

Remove the back off your tv, and just take a look at the small array of capacitors near the top right corner of the centrally situated power board. there are 4 identical capacitors rated at 1000uf 10v 105 degrees C. I think the silver capacitor lids should be flat or even slightly concave. The ones I replaced were all slightly convex and 2 of them had a tiny amount of what looked like brown corrosion right in the center of the caps.

Trying to find remote or is there another way to get all stations on this t.v without the remote

You can try to buy a samsung universal remote, buy a samsung vcr which has a tv/vcr switch, and this will let give you control of the tv and also allow you to program the channels. Because the vcr acts as a tuner.
