QuarkXPress 4.1 for mac Questions & Answers
Can you run quark 4.1 under windows 7
Please! I am using Quark 4.1 on Windows 7 64 bit just as I did on 98, XP and Vista. Without a floppy, I had to copy the installed Quark directory to newer platforms then drag out a shortcut to the desktop. I just published some work to embellish in Acrobat 10. The installer doesn't work; Quark does! I expect it will work in Windows 8 if the MS programmers don't screw with procedures that work fine now.
HOW CAN I CONVERT A QUARKXPRESS 4.1 FILE INTO A
I don't use Quark 8.1, but I would think if you just selected "open" and retained all the preferences of the 4.1 file, it would work. The problem happens when you are trying to backsave into an older version that doesn't have all the whistles and bells of the newer one.
We just need to recover
If you want to recover them as Quark files, your only option is to have Quark sitting on another computer. If you don't need to edit the files, and you have Acrobat Distiller, you can distill them and attach to emails as .pdf files, selecting the proper resolution and frequency desired in the Page Set-up dialogue box.
I am trying to make
Did you make a picture box, then use the "get picture" function to import the pdf? The first dialogue box you see should have tabs at the bottom, one of which says "color management" and the other, "PDF Import." Click on the latter and you should be all set.
Mac computer says registration code
not possible to bypass the code . if you spent money on buying Quark... you NEED to get it working properly. You should mail quark or take the faulty product back to the shop you got it from.
Hi,
I have QuarkXpress 6.5 on
There's really no direct way to open an 8.1 file in 6.5. Quark doesn't make it easy to do these things. The only thing you can do is save 8 down to 7 down to 6, but there's a lot of new stuff between the versions, so if you had the access to do that, you'd most likely lose formatting and information.
HOW CAN I CONVERT A
You shouldn't have to up-covert. A Quark 4.1 file should open nicely in Quark 8.1.
There shouldn't be any problems between the two. The only difference you'll find is in the software, not the file. Quark 8 has a new interface, that is different enough from the previous versions to be a little confusing.
