This is normal when you run out of propane. Depending on the length of line you have, there will be a delay in relighting it again because of insert air in the line. My advice to you is to first air out the house til the smell is gone. Then turn on only 1 burner with the igniter sparking and also hold a handheld bbq lighter at the burner to ensure that the gas burner lights when the air is finally purged. This should only take 20-30secs. If it takes longer, air out the room and try again. Use common sense and please be careful!

If no temp settings make a difference, test the power to the element plugins with a voltmeter to see if it is getting power. If no power, then you may have bad relay or control board.
If there is power to the element itself, then go ahead and replace the element.

Model Number is always helpful when
requesting information.
This part should still be available from a local parts outlet. You'll need model and serial and color. Model and serial are located underneath the unit on its bottom.
You won't like the price. Good Luck

Eye won't light
Hold a match to the burner in question and see if it lights.
That will verify if it is a valve problem or a ignitor problem.
If it lites with a match the burner electrode needs cleaning or repair or adjustment.

Intermittant/interrupted ignition device
The problem here is that the port holes in the burners are probably clogged. Clean ALL burners by taking a toothpick and unclogging the port holes. As for the position problem, if you have independant igniters, as some models do, you may need to replace the igniter. Remove knob and remove igniter,(white rectangular item with two wires) remove wires and replace.
