Michele, this machine perhaps sitting unused for few years. SO, It needs a thorough cleaning - I mean Clean it before you power up. What about the ribbon condition. Good luck and happy back to yester years.

The print solenoid plunger has a plastic cap on the end of the plunger it is probably broken. They are available but you need a bit of mechanical ability to install.
