Thermador dishwasher DWU244, error code "F" does not run?

f code is a fill fault problem to much or to little water to determine the problem is to hit cancel drain buttons on the front of the machine and wait for cl on the display turn off machine and wait 30 seconds turn back on and the first thing you will hear is the drain motor turn on for 15 sec then you should hear the water filling into the machine if you dont hear water filing then check to see if the valve under the sink is open to allow water to fill machine

Dishwasher runs forever - I have to manually drain

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

Based on your description
I'd say the issue actually with the control...unfortunately. This is commonly associated with a heating fault.

Since the issue is likely within the electronic timer/control, specifically the heater relay solder joint. ( a faulty flow switch, ntc or heater can also cause this, but not very probable ).
These are the steps you'll need to follow to resolve it or at least investigate.

If you feel capable of checking this on your own, there`s a way to visually inspect the control yourself...it really isn't very complicated.

It will require you to remove the control from the unit and then remove the control from it`s plastic housing and look for a burnt solder contact on the printed circuit board.

dabfa62.jpg

The culprit will 99% of the times be one of the pins from the heater relay,

9f1823d.jpg

**Flip this over and inspect the solder joints, it will be obvious when you see it.**

This ones new, but it's where to look...

9119d99.jpg

...hence the unit sit`s and takes longer & longer to finish because it can`t heat to advance or unless the 2 buttons for "cancel" are pressed...or takes a long time as I mentioned and eventually display's "1" on units with a display and usually very poor cleaning, no heating as a result.

You can also run the unit through a regular or econo cycle ...any cycle with the exception of rinse & hold, and with the door panel removed place an ammeter on the gray/black wire it should draw 11 amps during the wash cycle...after it fills and the flow switch indicates it has adequate water to engage the heater.

i.e.

**My Opinion - if you or someone you know is proficient at soldering, a lot of times it can be remedied by simply repairing the solder...but it has to be done well...or it will not last, although Bosch recommend`s replacing the control and I don`t pretend to speak on their behalf nor do I profess to know better. This is just my experience (it work`s) and my opinion (why buy new if one can repair ?)**

**Please disconnect the power or turn off the breaker before attempting any service to the dishwasher.**

If you do not feel comfortable attempting this service, call a local pro, preferably one familiar with Bosch/Thermador/Gaggenau/Siemens, to service your machine.

Hope this answer`s your question, let me know if I can assist you further.

White film on glasses after a run.

If your dishes or glassware appear filmy or spotted following a complete wash cycle, adjusting the amount or type of detergent you’re using and adjusting your hot water heater’s water temperature may solve the problem. But before you do either of these, put a rinse additive (such as Jet-Dry) in the rinse dispenser to improve the sheeting action of the water.

Next, you’ll have to determine whether the film is removable or permanently etched. To do this, soak a glass in undiluted white vinegar for about 15 minutes. Or, wash the glass with warm water and concentrated dishwasher detergent or a high-phosphate detergent (such as Glass Magic).

If the film comes off, it is probably caused by hard water minerals, improper amounts of detergent, or unsuitable water temperature.

Permanent etching is often caused by a combination of soft water and excessive heat or detergent. If glassware is permanently etched, there isn’t anything you can do to make it clear again. But you can avoid future etching by taking these steps:

1) Be sure hot water entering the dishwasher is no hotter than 140 degrees F. Don’t use extra-hot settings such as “Power Scrub,” and use the “Energy Saver” dry cycle.

2) Adjust the detergent amount.

3) Don’t pre-rinse your dishes before loading them in the dishwasher. Food particles on the dishes actually help the detergent and drying agents clean better.

A common cause of poor washing results is improper loading—dishes that block or impede the spray arm(s) or prevent the soap dispenser from opening. On the other hand, if your dishwasher has chronic problems with good washing, the problem may not be your dishwasher. A good first step is vary the amount of dishwasher detergent you're using and try switching brands.

Other possibilities: Your home’s water pressure may be too low, your water may be too hard, or the water temperature may not be hot enough.

In order for your dishwasher to fill to the appropriate level, water pressure should be from 20–120 pounds per square inch. If you suspect that your water pressure may be low, turn off all faucets or other users of water (such as washing machines and sprinklers) and then put a half-gallon jug under the kitchen faucet. Turn on the hot water full-blast. If the jug doesn’t fill within 14 seconds, your water pressure may be too low for proper dishwasher operation. Call your city water utility to discuss your options, or avoid drawing water elsewhere in the house or yard during dishwasher cycles.

The right amount of detergent to use depends on how large your load of dishes is and how hard your water is. Hardness is measured in grains of minerals—the more grains per gallon you have, the more detergent you’ll need. If your water has 12 grains or more of hardness, fill both dishwasher soap cups completely with detergent. If that doesn’t work, consider installing a water softener. (For more information, see the article Water Softener Systems.

To check water temperature, hold a meat thermometer under the hot water faucet for two minutes; if it doesn’t register a minimum of 140 degrees F., turn up the temperature dial on your hot water heater. (However, if you have a newer dishwasher that heats the water internally, it isn’t necessary to turn up your hot water heater.)

If your dishwasher has worked fine in the past but suddenly your dishes aren’t clean after the dishwasher completes all cycles, listen to the spray arm(s) spinning inside during the wash cycle. If spinning poorly, wait for the machine to cool down, remove the spray arm(s) by unscrewing the hubcap(s), lifting the arm(s) off, and then cleaning out the spray holes in the spray arm(s) with a stiff piece of wire.

My thermador dw44zs dishwasher:

There are a few possibities...
if you remove the lid and take the two t20 screw off the left side panel at the front you could check the pressure chamber and its hose are not blocked. Use the link and go to page 4, part 0426 and 0424. You can also remove 0418 (remove t20 screw via the sump after all filters are removeds) this will expose the pump impellor and you can check for any obstruction. If the d/w is connected via a sealed spigot to the sink, remove the grey hose and unscrew the spigot adaptor from the sink and ensure there are no blockages. There may be water in the base of the d/w (base as below the tank, not under the filter) this will activate the flood safety, so check valve, hoses etc for leaks. You will have to manually clear the water from the base pan to deactivate the safety device. Sit the front of the d/w on a large towel and tip the whole unit forward, the base water will then come out. Whilst you have the side panel off, check that the red rod connected to the pressure chamber is not activating the microswitch.

Electronic code *1

Hi,

What you're seeing with the "1" code is indicating a fault with the heater circuit. Since these dishwasher's are made by B/S/H - bosch/thermador/gaggenau, sooo...

Based on your description I'd say the issue is with the control. Bosch has had a history of this exact problem I'm about to lay out for you and this is the first thing I'd be looking for if called out to service the unit with the symptoms you've described. Heck if you called me with this description I'd be happy to bring you a new control and have a first time complete. ( unless you requested a resolder option...see below re: my opinion on this )

I digress,

As I've alluded to the issue is within the electronic timer/control, specifically the heater relay solder joint. ( a faulty flow switch, ntc or heater can also cause this, but not very probable ).

My first suggestion would be calling in an authorized bosch servicer if that is an option for you and your budget however, If you cannot afford that option or feel capable of checking this on your own, there`s a way to visually inspect the control yourself. It will require you to remove the control from the unit and then remove the control from it`s plastic housing and look for a burnt solder contact on the printed circuit board. This will be one of the pins from the heater relay, hence the unit sit`s and takes forever to finish and eventually display's the "1" error because it can`t heat to advance or unless the 2 buttons for "cancel" are pressed.

**My Opinion - if you or someone you know is proficient at soldering, a lot of times it can be remedied by simply repairing the solder...but it has to be done well...half assed will not last, although Bosch recommend`s replacing the control and I don`t pretend to speak on there behalf nor do I profess to know better. This is just my experience (it work`s) and my opinion (why buy new if one can repair ?)**

**Please disconnect the power before attempting any service to the dishwasher. If you do not feel comfortable attempting this service, call a local pro, preferably one familiar with Bosch/Thermador/Gaggenau, to service your machine.**

Why does my new dishwasher (in a new home)smell

You have to leave it open atleast 2 hours after the wash. Atleast the door left half open.

Or the smell must be flowing from your main drain pipe!!

My soap dispensor won't open during the cycle

at times soap contaminates the electrical connections at the door latch connector and the timer pins.check the wiring Accumulated detergent and other material can interfere with the spring mechanism or halt the pivot action of the door. Use very hot water and a micro-sized brush. You also can use a mix of hot water and vinegar. Most dispensers have a bimetallic strip or switch, attached by screws, which triggers the door release. With the front door panel removed, locate the switch, and push on it gently with a screwdriver until the dispenser door opens. You might simply need to adjust the alignment of the switch.
you will need to open the assembly if you are skilled.if the problem persists after this then Most likely the soap dispenser assembly has to be replaced..hope this helps

Glasses etched and spotted in Thermador dishwasher soft water

I have spent a 50 year career in catering using dishwashers and seen all the damage that can cause. Etching is caused by using too much detergent. They tend to be based on Caustic Potash. Use as little as you can get away with. Rinse aids don't normally cause spotting, but having the water too hot can. If you are having problems, change the detergents and lower the temperature. You can also try Calgon water softener, but only a little. Also make sure filters are clean and run a liming solution through the machine once every 6 month. Before I retired, I was manager of a Toronto Airport business class lounge, and we washed thousands of plates and glasses a day 5:00am to 11:30pm. We descaled every week.
