Ice maker not making ice

NOTE: This
is a multi-solution answer since I don't have all the tech from your question to pinpoint your problem
But the solution is in here generically, if you read and study the solutions very, very carefully.
Check Temp inside freezer. It has to be down to about 10 or 15 degrees
This can cause slow ice making if its too high even tho its freezing everything else at 25 degrees
See if water is in icemaker.
Pour water in Ice Maker and wait to see if it ejects.
If it ejects thenyou need to replace water valve in rear bottom of fridge(Its the part that
attaches to water line out of wall)
If it doesn't eject then it is a faulty Ice Maker.
If its leaking or no water at icemaker or door either one, then the valve at the rear bottom of ref needs replacing
First I would check the fan in the freezer. Listen to see if it is running
It moves air to the ref from the freezer
Then check to see if freezer control is turned WARMER, which makes the Ref. colder
Also if it is getting drinking water to the door but not to the icemaker (or vice versa) Then you need to replace
the water valve at the bottom rear of the fridge. It is a double valve and one side is not working
Also this might be a common Defrost problem, Ice
is not being melted by the defrost system. The fan can't blow through the coils into the fridge.
Take out back panel of freezer to check for ice buildup. The coils should be clean.
There are three components to a defrost system- a heater, heater thermostat, and a timer unless you have a defrost electronic card.
Its best handled by a Technician but you could possibly do it by taking your model number to the nearest appliance parts store and asking for the parts. They are mostly located in freezer ,behind back panel on freezer coils.except the card which is usually located in ref The parts store will have info
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath

Noise coming from freezer section

Hello, your missing two letters off the end of the model number but the 6 units listed on the look up site are basicly all the same. The noise that you are hearing is most likely the evaporatro fan motor. Usually when the evaporator fan motor is makeing noise it tends to lead to the unit having a defrost issue in which if you were to remove the rear panel on the inside of the freezer (yes you have to remove all the food and your shelves to access the evaporator coil) you will see your evaporator coil which is most likely having a defrost issue. A defrost issue is when a fault occurs with either the defrost thermostat, the defrost heater or the defrost timer or in some units an adaptive control board. The defrost heater and defrost thermostat are shown in this diagram click here http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/frame_diagram.aspx?diagram_id=28426254&pkw_=basket&model_id=48282&NewWindow=1 the deforst heater is shown as part number 12 in this diagram and the deforst thermostat is the round disc two wire object that is connected to one of the copper lines coming off the evaporator. You would also want to check part number 1 which is the evaporator fan motor and assure that it is running properly and not slow and sluggishly. Also any ice build up in this rear area you will have to defrost with a hair dryer. After you defrost this area with the unit unplugged then you would conduct your continuity tests with your multimeter. If in fact you find that both the defrost heater and defrost thermostat are in fact not showing a fault situation then message me back and I will instruct further on how to test the adaptive control board in the unit as well. If you have any further questions message me back. I await your reply. Thanks Rick

Jenn-Air JCD2389GEW Fridge side not cooling,

No, the relay for the fan of the condenser would explain the failure of the fan and the overheating of the compressor, but it won't explain the ice on the internal evaporator - of course if you have de-iced and cleaned it at least once a year - in here you will have to check the adaptive defrosting module, it's probably malfunctioning.
No, it's not safe to work like that - if the compressor isn't properly cooled it will fry and its replacement is extremely expensive, over $600.

Troubleshoot defroster on jcd2389ges .

Hello, welcome to FixYa.

With the info you posted, the trouble shooting is best done by way of checking the circuit and components of the defrost circuit.

The info provided here is based on the Maytag/Jenn Air side by side model # fridges starting with MSB, MSD, CSB, CSD, JCB, **JCD**, ASD etc.

This model of Jenn Air has what is called a "adaptive defrost" and below in the diagram is what is considered in the defrost circuit...

macmarkus_676.jpg

You can open the freezer panel and ohm out the heater, dts (bi-metal) etc if you're able. You can also accomplish this by way of entering a "forced defrost" but you need a watt meter or a clamp on ammeter.

To do so...

Checking the Adaptive Defrost Control

1. Disconnect the unit from the power source.

2. Open the fresh food door and remove any items on the top shelf.

3. Remove the light shield and the temperature control housing

4. Connect the refrigerator to a wattmeter or clamp-on ammeter to L1.

5. Make sure compressor is running (cold control closed).

6. Using an insulated number 22 jumper wire short between L1 and Test; this will put the refrigerator into a defrost for approximately 23 minutes.

7. The watt meter should read between 500 to 600 watts or ammeter 4.3 - 5amps (at 120vac).

macmarkus_677.jpg
Let me know what you find and we'll go from there. I can send you a Jenn Air/Maytag service "pdf" if you want to provide an email address as well if you think that may serve you well.

Thanks for visiting "FixYa" for assistance today

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

How do i reset the waterfilter light

WATER FILTER CHANGE REMINDER

(Select Models)

For some refrigerator models featuring

water filters, the Water Filter Change

Reminder function monitors the life of the

filter and provides a reminder when it is time

for the filter to be changed.

When the system detects either 12 months

of usage, or the filtering of 416 gallons of

water (whichever comes first), the CHANGE

FILTER indicator light will illuminate. This

indicates that the water filter should be

changed and the light reset.

To reset CHANGE FILTER light: Press and

hold the LIGHT and LOCK pads until the

CHANGE FILTER light blinks (approx. 3

seconds). The control is now reset for 12

months or another 416 gallons.

Note: The Water Filter Reminder will

operate if the filter bypass is in place.

If you have other questions please let me know, Thanks Sea Breeze

We have had our Jenn Air refrigerator since about

Can you tell if the compressor is working? Do you hear any clicking in that area? While there are serveral things that could cause this I will mention just the most common.

The defrost assembly has quit working. This results in ice build up behind the freezer rear panel which is where the thermostat is, so it thinks everything is cold enough. So it cuts off cooling until the ice defrosts.

The best way to check. Remove food from freezer section; remove shelves, remove the inside back panel and look for ice build up. If there is an ice build up them you can defrost the unit by either letting it sit with the door open and unplugged or hurry it up with a hair dryer. Once you have it defrosted then plug it back in and turn on. If things freeze up and works write, you will need to order the defrost assembly and replace it the next time the problem comes back.
