Jenn-Air JCD2389G Side by Side Refrigerator Questions & Answers
Refrigerator won't cool
Unplug for a few hours with doors open to do two things 1 to cool down compressor that got to hot from no fan running and to melt ice off coil in the freezer. There is an internal overload built inside compressor and will stay hot with constant power, thats why you need to unplug. Also check bottom coils where fan is and make sure not blocked with pet hair or debris.

Why does water drip followed by a sizzle?
Hello Johannson;
My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.
Every 8-10 hours your unit goes through a defrost mode. This is where everything shuts down with the exception of your lights and your defrost heater turns one. The defrost heater will turn on for about 20-30 minutes to defrost the cooling coils (evaporator) behind the back wall of your freezer.
Your defrost heater is generally a black steel bar about 3/8" in diameter. It is located beneath the freezer cooling coils. The sound that you hear is the condensate dropping off the cooling coils and hitting the hot defrost bar.
Everything is good. This is how your unit is suppose to work.

Jenn-Air side by side refrigerator, Model JRSD2490. Not staying cold enough
Larger=colder. Make sure that 1) your magnetic strip around the fridge door is sealing well. Even a small leaking area could make it difficult to keep cold, especially in warmer areas. Also, make sure there is nothing obstructing the door from closing completely and sealing properly. I had this same issue where one of the door shelves was unlatched a little and the door would close but not seal. Beyond that could be motor or more likely compressor or coolant leak. Good luck.

Freezer door won't close tight
There should be adjustments in the hinge assembly. Go to Jen-Air .com, then select parts. They will have diagrams to view for repair, adjustment etc.

Not making ice
Probably dirt or hard water stopped up the supply tube bringing water to the unit. It's very small and doesn't take much to clog it up. Also make sure the lever in the ice making unit is down. If it made ice before and was full, the lever moved up and shut off the ice maker and now needs to be reset in the down position.

Bea, try this. UNPLUG the refrigerator for 12 hours and keep the fridge and freezer doors open. You might lose some food. NOW you will find some water under the fridge. clean that and now power up the fridge. Make sure you hear the motor working. Your fridge will start cooling. Keep at recommended temp.

Amana side by side freezer not cooling enought
With so little information all I can say is check to see if the coils underneath the refrigerator or in back behind the cover are blocked with lint or the fan is running that draws air across these coils and cools the compressor is running. Check to see if there is frost building up in the freezer on the back panel. If so then you have a defrost issue. This could be caused from a bad defrost timer control, a bad defrost heater or defrost thermostat. also check to see if the freezer fan is blowing. There could be a bad thermostat that controls the cooling it may be shutting off too soon. Check the door gaskets around the freezer and fresh food sections. If they are torn you could be losing cool air and drawing in warm air. There are so many things that could cause a poor cooling condition. All is usually fixable but the worst case scenario is a weak compressor. lets hope this is not the case.
I hope this helps.

To replace water filter, turn off icemaker how
The wire like switch that hovers above the icemaker needs to be in the up most position. This shuts the water valve off to the ice maker. Remove the maker tray and dump the existing ice. When changing the filter, twist off and remove as per the directions that come with the replacement filter. Hand tighten and do not twist on with a wrench. The rubber seals are soft and make a positive seal with out too much force.

Buzzing noise
I have a Mazda Tribute, 2005. It has started a beeping sound as if a door is ajar. I have tried everything and it still sporadically beeps. A mechanic said it was in the switch and would cost me 800 dollars to fix. could it possibly be a fuse to replace or something to unplug?

Turn off water filter
Just lift the wire thing on the side of the ice maker. It will click and stay up. It won't stop it mid-cycle. So if it's ready to drop ice wait till it finishes. When you're done just flip it back down.
