With these units they try and standardise for different model so thats probably why you you've got 2 sets of cables and plugs.
The unit in the front is the thermostat and the long silver wire is the actual sensor.
It sounds like your compressor has a fault and thats why its getting hot. It could also explain why you had to replace the control board.
If you want I could look into what parts you could get yourself to try and fix it?
Undercounter icemaker is cold but
The water solenoid valve controls flow to icemaker you can put 120 volt to it and see if it opens .If it is good then its not getting power when icemaker calls for fill
No water to ice tray
Check water supply and pressure is. o.k (behind the fridge). The ice maker water solenoid is located at the lower rear of the refrigerator.Disconnect the tubing that goes up to the ice maker, and wait for it to cycle. You may have to cycle it manually.
If the solenoid buzzes but no water comes out, the solenoid is bad. Replace thesolenoid.
(Solenoid will get energized only when previous ice made cubes are not disturbing the shut off arm. Hence make sure you have emptied the ice bucket)
Water solenoid opens but no pump or comp operation
If you have a tap into the water line type open the valve all the way up and then close it tight. Then open it again to dislodge any obstruction. It could be froze up with ice but I doubt it. If you can get a bucket and put the plastic or copper tubing into it and open the valve at least you know the flow is ok. Can you give me more details if there is any?
Water is not getting to the ice tray. I have
Double check your connection and confirm that power is present at the solenoid. If power is present, do a continuity test of solenoid coil. If the coil checks OK, check the water supply line valve; that may be your culprit.

Hi,
If your refrigerator do not work and the
refrigerator has shut down, check for the power supply. You need to see
if the refrigerator is plugged in properly. Also check for a blown fuse
or tripped circuit breaker. See if there is any damage to the electrical
cord and check the outlet voltage. Troubleshoot the problem and if you
do not find any of the above reasons as the cause of refrigerator not
working, call the repairman.
