Re: GLES388ASD Door won't unlock

Hello Friend, thank you for allowing me to assist you! I see that the door of your your Frigidaire range (GLES388ASD) will not unlock. Let's trying pressing the CLEAR/OFF or CANCEL button in for approximately three seconds if you have a touchpad model. If you have a knob type range control, I suggest starting a self-clean cycle. Then turn the stop time knob to the off position. If that does not work, then disconnect power to your range and reset it by either unplugging it or flipping the breaker off. It is necessary to wait roughly ten minutes and then turn your range on. I ask that you please follow up with a response on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your range status has changed successfully. Best of luck!

Frigidaire door lock won't reset

Hello Steven Krenz - Was the unit in self-clean mode? Try pressing and holding the "Clear/Off" button to stop any operation of the EOC. Do this at the same time while pushing and hold the light switch to the left of the door lock. Usually this will trick the oven into unlocking the door. If it is ineffective, try resetting the unit by unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. Wait approximately ten minutes and redo the steps. If door continues to maintain locked while open, the unit may possibly have a faulty door latch or a communication problem with the EOC. Contact a professional to move forward accurately.

How do i operate the self cleaning function

Hello - Before using the self-cleaning cycle of the appliance, remove the broiler pan and any utensils stored in the appliance. Also remove any excess spillovers in the oven cavity. Allow the oven to cool before cleaning. During the self-cleaning cycle, the outside of the wall oven can become very hot to the touch.

Typically to set the controls for a self-clean the first step is to confirm that the clock shows the correct time of the day. Press CLEAN. "---" appears in the display. Press the UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW once. "3:00" appears in the display for a 3 hour cycle. To change to a 2 hour cycle press DOWN ARROW"2:00" appears in the display. As soon as the controls are set, the motor drive lock will begin to close automatically and the "LOCK" indicator light will flash. DO NOT open the oven door while the light is flashing (it takes about 15 seconds for the over door to lock). "CLn" will appear in the display during the Self-Clean cycle and the "LOCK" light will glow until the Self-Cleaning cycle is complete or cancelled and the oven temperature has cooled.

When the Self-Clean cycle has completed, the time of the day or "End" will appear in the display window and the "Clean" and "LOCK" light will continue to glow. Once the over has cooled down for about 1 HOUR and the "LOCK" light has gone out, the oven door can be opened. If "End" is the display and the Clean indicator light remains ON, press CLEAR/OFF. The time of the day will appear in the display.

If it becomes necessary to stop or interrupt a Self-Cleaning cycle, press CLEAR/OFF. Once the oven has cooled down for about 1 HOUR and the "LOCK" light has gone out, the oven door can be opened. Restart the Self-Clean cycle once all conditions have been corrected.

Hello - Sounds like the element or the control board to the element is not communicating correctly. I would have a professional diagnose the element first. You may only need to replace it. Otherwise it could be the control board not allowing the element to heat up properly, a faulty mechanical thermostat or an oven sensor.

Oven F10 Problem

PJC,

From the Frigidaire service manual:

"F10: Runaway Temperature.
SUGGESTED CORRECTIVE ACTION
1. (F10 only) Check RTD Sensor Probe & replace if necessary.
If oven is overheating, disconnect power. If oven continues to
overheat when the power is reapplied, replace EOC. Severe
overheating may require the entire oven to be replaced should
damage be extensive."

-hopefully it's just a bad temperature sensor!

F1 touch pad / ERC test This simple test will help determine whether the ERC (Electronic Range Control or Clock) or the touch pad is defective when F1 error code is present. Note: Some models incorporate the touch pad in to the ERC as a single assembly, in which case this test is not necessary. Simply replace the ERC (Clock). Warning: If you feel in any way uncomfortable performing this test or making this repair, please contact a qualified appliance repair technician. 1. Disconnect power to the range (unplug the range power cord or turn the power off to the range at the circuit breaker). It is very important that the power to the range has been disconnected, so please double check before continuing. 2. Gain access inside the control panel. 3. Disconnect the touch pad (also called keypad or membrane switch) ribbon from the ERC. 4. Make sure there are no lose wires, or anything else that may cause a short when power is turned back on. Assemble the control panel back the way it was. 5. Turn the power back on. 6. Wait for at least one hour to see if the F1 code comes back (usually accompanied by a beeping sound). 7. If F1 comes back, replace the ERC. If it does not, replace the touch pad.Read more: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/repairtips/repairtips_appliance+fault+codes.aspx#ixzz1gY5sWaIg http://www.appliancepartspros.com

The oven wont get hot, it will warm up and the

You may get fooled into thinking it's working, because the oven is hot inside. But many electric ovens use the broil element, too, during the preheat and bake cycles. So the food may be getting heated only by the broil element, which causes poor baking results. If the bake element is burned out, replacing it should solve the problem. To determine if the heating element is burned out, you will have to test the element for resistance across the 2 ends , with the meter set on the 200 scale if you get a good reading like 000 it would indicate that the part may be ok but if yoiu get a reading of a 01 or a 1 or lomething like this it would indicate tha part is bad then you need to replace it However you will also want to First check to see if the thermostat sensing bulb has come loose from its holder. It could be lying on the floor of the oven or resting on the heating element. This would cause the oven to not heat correctly. If the thermostat bulb is not dislodged, it's likely that the thermostat or sensor is either mis-calibrated or defective. Electronic ovens with a digital display use a sensor to monitor oven temperature. To solve temperature problems for these models, you may need to replace the sensor. On some digital-display models, you can calibrate the temperature using the key pad. See your operator's manual for details. Ovens without a digital display often use a mechanical system for controlling temperature. On many of these units, you can remove the thermostat knob and adjust the knob itself to more accurately represent the actual setting of the thermostat. If, when you remove the knob, there's a screw on the back of it with a small calibration plate, you can loosen the screw, adjust the plate, then tighten the screw again. If the knob isn't adjustable, and the oven temperature is off by more than 30 to 40 degrees, you need to replace the thermostat to solve the problem. It won't broil

Closed door, pushed clean button,

Hello there and welcome to FixyaThis is a fairly common problem with self cleaning ovens The problem normally is that the user has interrupted the clean cycle and the door is locked by default or the door lock assy has failed all together .Now here is the thing these ovens have a built in memory module that stores a number of commands that the user has input in it like self clean or broil ect.ect so what you will have to do is to clear the memory and it is done like this. First unplug the oven and do not touch it leave it sit for a minimum of 1 hour this will reset the memory module Now only after the hour is up plug in the oven and you may hear a beep ora click if so great wait a few min then you can press the cancel button then try to open the door again.

The oven will not heat. The stove, oven light

Probable cause of that is an open heater - no connectivity. As you know the heater is the one that produce heat in the oven. So when it has a problem even when the light oven light up, expect there be no heating happening. Also the wiring that connected to it.
I hope my advice give you an idea.

Model CFEF372CB2 Frigidaire self-clean range put

If a selfclean oven door lock fails to open after the self clean cycle and sufficient cooling time has elapsed (approximately 1 hour), there are several things you can try.
  1. Unplug the unit or shut off the circuit breaker for 5 minutes. Plug the unit back in or turn on the circuit breaker. Set the clock and gently try moving the door lock lever (is so equipped) or opening the door.

  2. Set the self-clean cycle again and only allow it to work for 15 minutes. Cancel the self-clean cycle and allow the oven to cool. Gently try moving the door lock lever (is so equipped) or opening the door.

If these procedures fail to correct the condition, the lock must usually be accessed and moved manually to open the door.
