My water filer is leaking into the top compartment on the door. The fridge is less than 6 months old. What could be the problem? I tool out the filter and it is not leaking anymore.
Hello, sounds like the o-ring for the housing that the filter goes into was damaged. You can get a replacement o-ring from your locale appliance parts wholesaler/dealer - OR if you have a really good locale "Hardware" store - remove the o-ring from the male part of the housing that stays in your fridge (pinch it between you fingers around the diameter and you should be able to get it out). They should be able to match it for you - If I recall it is a standard size. If you cannot find one right away you may be able to get it to stop leaking temporarily by getting some Sillicone O-Ring GREASE and applying it to the o-ring. This may stop the leak but I would still replace the oring when you can. Good Luck Dr. Know

Hi,
I broke off the water dispenser lever on my side by side. I now have the replacement part but need to know how I get into the compartment to replace the part. I dont want to tear apart or break anything.
My Frigidaire side by side is a little different from tech17's solution. It has no slots for a screwdriver to pry it off. It is a model FLSC23F6D55 manufactured 3/05. There is a semicircular spill tray in the bottom of the recessed water station. Just pry out the tray, from the bottom corner of the frame from the side and or bottom. (I did this with a knife blade.) This tray is a snap-in fit. Then you will see three phillips head screws in the bottom of the frame. Take out these three screws and remove the frame by lifting up on it and pulling out at the bottom. Then take out three more phillips mounting screws to remove the processor card and key pad. You will then see the top of the water lever mounting. The lever comes out by removing two more screws that hold the pivot shaft of the lever. (These last screws are a little more diffiucult to get to, but not anywhere near impossible.) I wish you well.

Refrigerator does not work
#1. DEFROST TIMER stuck or defective. Not allowing DEFROST CYCLE to occur. Most probable.
#2. THERMOSTAT (cold control) has gone bad.
#3. CIRCULATING FAN. It pulls air from the FREEZER side into the REFRIGERATED side.
#4. and lowest in probability. LOW (leaking) coolant charge.

Our ice maker and water dispenser were working perfectly untill we came back from a 5 day vacation. Untill then the water dispener and ice dispencer were used every day.
I have checked the supply and we have plenty of pressure where the water enters the fridge. I've unhooked the water line from the output side of the first solenoid and when I press the dispenser lever the water gushes out. When I try the same thing where the water enters the second solenoid (bottom right side of the fridge looking from the front. This looks like it is fed from the top of the fridge near the filter) there is no water. After that I tried thawing the water reservoir with a hair dryer. I've unplugged the fridge to help with any freezing in the lines. I've taken the filter out, filled it with water and left it on the counter to check if the water will flow through the filter and it does. I've tried the dispenser with the filter in and with the filter out.
Still no water!!!
Any suggestions?

I have a fridgidaire FRS6LF7F side by side refrigerator. Ice maker is stuck on "crush". I looked at the mechanism and it appears that the auger should turn in the clockwise direction for cubes and counterclockwise for crushed. Is this corrrect and is there a way to solve problem without calling a repair person?
i think it's simpler than that. there's a plastic gate that snaps UP for cubed and DOWN for crushed.
When you remove the tray, set it to CRUSHED, BEFORE putting the tray back in place.

We have a Frigidaire side by side and the ice maker just stopped working. My husband heard it making a weird sound the night before like maybe a gear shift was stuck or not working.
Hi,
Here is a tip that I wrote about the reasons why ice makers do not work.

After power outage the fridge was displaying codes SY and EF I have Frigidaire model number FGHS2365KF1. Any thoughts?????
Hi.
SY: Defective evaporator system. Check evaporator fan, thermostat and heater.
EF: Evaporator Fan defective. Test and eventually replace the evaporator fan.
The problem is likely the evaporator fan. Before replacing the fan test the other parts comprised in the evaporator system.
Here a tip explaining how to test such parts with a similar fridge model: Fridge not cooling. Procedure is more or less the same with your model.
Here parts and diagrams for your model.
Generally you can find parts and diagrams for most appliances using the links listed on this page: Where do I find parts and diagrams for my appliance?

error code 5y EF frigidaire refrigerator
Good Morning Friend,
I understand you are receiving an "SY EF" code on your Frigidaire refrigerator, model# FRS3R5EMB. The "SY EF" code stands for system error with the evaporator fan. This possibly means that there is something going on with your evaporator fan or it could possibly be a false error code. . I suggest resetting your appliance, by either unplugging it or shutting the power off at your home's circuit breaker, for 3-5 minutes. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your appliances status has changed successfully.
-Best Regards-
