had a sanyo that quit after 3 months. Garbage anyhow... Have had the hitachi since may 07 and it is on most of the time. No problems. as for parts, you are dealing with china these days. And now that america no longer has a viable industrial complex,(and quite possibly a second world nation) we are at the mercy of foreign manufacturers who produce substandard parts, and deliver when they see fit. Way to go america.

Travel and shipping aside, the only problem you would face is the power. European devices run on 220-240 volts at 50 hertz. By contrast, North America uses 110-120 volts at 60 hertz. Check the rating on the televisions back panel and verify it can work in this voltage range (many can work in both).
Another simple annoyance is that the analog tuner (for cable TV etc) has different frequencies and framerates altogether. While digital video will still work fine, tuning into cable or composite video may or may not work correctly.
Remove base from television
Remove 2 screws on the back bottom by the stand.
Remove 4 screws, two on each side about 3/4 of the way toward each edge.
Pull TV up to remove from stand. Put plate and 2 screws back.
Can see this if you download the manual from the hitachi site. Just do a search for the model no. on their site's search engine.
