Turn on the unit and the relay clicks with a solid green light then the relay clicks again and the red LED blinks in intervals of 4x. The screen never lights up. Is there an error code that coincides with the 4x blinking? I am a bench tech in need of some guidance/help/assistance. Philips MODEL 42PF5321D/37 thank you, carl
The most likely reason for the no picture might be the back light is gone and needs to be replaced, now as for the LED light blinking on different intervals is because its diagnosing it self unfortunately the user manual does not have any information on this part only by contacting the Phillips customer support you might get a better idea, but check your back light first it may just be that. Also try to check your Manufacturer warranty repair.

MY 50 PHILLIPS PLASMA BLINKS THE RED LIGHT 6 TIMES FAST AND 3 TIMES SLOW CAN SOMEONE HELP ME IT DOESNT COME ON AT ALL UNLESS YOU UNPLUG IT SEVERAL TIMES
There Are 2 10 Volt 33000mfd. Electrolytic Capacitors At The Bottom Of The Power Supply Board,
They Are Right Next To Each Other, They Should Look Swollen ,They Should Be Changed To 12 or16
Volt Versions,This Seems To Have Worked In Three Sets I Have Seen.
Good Luck

When you try to power up the unit, it just makes a clicking noise and will not power up. We took it to a local repair shop, and was told we need a new power supply that would run $425.00. This seems like an expensive fix. Of course the TV is no longer under warranty, the warranty expired in May!! Help! Thanks!
I have the same tv with the identical issue. I replaced the capacitors that were bad on the power supply board. You have to be comfortable taking the tv backing off and removing the power supply board which is located in the top middle if you take the back metal cover off. Once off, look at the capacitors on the right side of the board, you should see black goo on top of them. Those are the bad ones that need to be replaced. Maybe you have someone you know who can fix that for you or you can simply order a new power supply board online for about $130 and replace the whole thing yourself. either way, it's cheaper than the shop. Some power supply boards are much more expensive than others, so make sure you have the right part number. Best of Luck and be very careful of you try this yourself. There is high voltage on this board so only touch from the outside of the board. Again, have an expert do this if you are not very comfortable doing it.

I found that about 5 capacitors "pop"ed and that is why it just clicks. I ordered new capacitors at a cost of $12, soldered them in myself and I have a working tv again. Be careful around the power supply, there is high voltage. You can search for a new power supply board online too which is cheaper than the repair from the shop. my power supply board was $120 online if I wanted to order the whole thing.
nice job... thats the most common problem with all LCD tv's now

I have a Philips 50 inch plasma tv. The light is blinking red and it won't turn on. What is wrong?
I have Philips 50 inch plasma TV purchased almost exactly 3 years ago. Completely out of warranty. Paid 1999 bucks for it new. Now Plasma TVs similar to this are 800 bucks. I figured the cost of a repair tech coming to the house would be around 500 bucks.. so I decided I could "do no harm" and look at the power supply. Sure enough, two 3300 uF caps were swollen.. I am far from a true electrical repair person, and if it were not for the caps being swollen, would have no idea that they were bad. I am however a little bit skilled in soldering. So I ordered replacements for about 8 bucks. The caps were actually only 1.50 ea. but the min order fee and shipping brought it to about 8 bucks.. I got them from studiosoundelectronics.com . They came in today and installed them... to my astonishment, my TV works as good as it did when it was new... I must say that I am dissapointed in Philips.. and will never buy another product from them. If it is out of warranty.. they will not even talk to you.. I don't think it is too much to ask when you spend 1999 bucks on a product from them.. I expected my TV to have more than 2.999 years in life in it. Thanks a million to this site for providing soulutions for folks..

We have a Philips 50 inch plasma TV model no. 50PF7320A/37. When we turn it on the green light comes and then we get a second click and the flashing red light comes on. We have turned it off, unplugged it and waited and have on occasion gotten it to come back on. We are now at the point where it will not turn on at all. any suggestions?
Commonly it's going to be a power supply related problem. The two boards that need to be looked at is the Main Power Supply Board or the power supply board for the screen. The one that powers the screen, some manufactures call it a Backlight Inverter Board.
If you have some electronic experience, you can sometimes find a Service Manual for the TV over the internet for less than $20. It will have the all resource material for repairing your TV model. It's just the matter of replacing the bad part on the circuit board.

My "POS" philips wont power on. I called customer service, they told me because the warranty is expired that they could not help me at all. In fact they said they werent "ALLOWED" to tell me anything. I am so angry i found a site that wants to bring a Class Action suit against them. Pleasecontact them at http://www.classactionfaq.com/defective-products/plasmatv/ Lets make them pay!
Philips TVs **** - whoever said "Just buy a new power board fix ur tv" obviously works for Philips - again, Philips has horrible products that break and no customer service. Everyone that has ever purchased a Philips TV complained about it online. I wish I knew before I bought the piece of broken **** sitting in my living room.

I HAVE A 50' PHILIPS MODEL 50PFP5332D/37 FLAT SCREEN TV. I BLEW A BREAKER ON THE TV PLUG IN WITH A PORTABLE HEATER. TURNED BREAKER ON TV CAME ON WORKED FINE. TURNED OFF. 1HR. LATER A RED BLINKING LIGHT WAS BLINKING ON THE FRONT WHERE "BLUE" LITE IS IN "ON MODE" IT WAS BLINKING 5 TIMES THEN SHORT PAUSE, THEN BLINK 3 OR 4 TIMES IN RAPID SUCCESSION. I CHECKED ALL CONNECTIONS BOTH ELECTRICAL AND CABLE ALL TIGHT. SAME THING. I HAVE TRIED SEVERAL THINGS, BUT STILL BLINKS. THE REMOTE DOES NOTHING I CAN TURN THE BLUE LIGHT OFF AND ON ON TV. BLUE LIGHT WILL STAY ON ABOUT 5 MINUTES, GO OUT, RED BLINKING STARTS. I UNPLUGGED TV FOR OVER 4 HRS. TRYING TO ''HARD RESTART" TV STILL SAME THIS TV IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD. HELP PLEASE THANK YOU.
HI:
This is a plasma unit and philips plasma's are nortorious for bad power supplys, your problem may very well be the power suppy in the television, it is possible you blew a low B+ fuse on the power supply. There is also a issue with the Y-sustain board failing in this model, If you open the back and looking at the unit from the rear the y board is on the left side of the unit and the PS is in the center. disconnect the Y-sustain power plug from the power supply and turn on the unit if the unit stays on with no red light then the y board is bad. it does the same then replace the Power Supply.
