My phone buttons are not working
Hard Reset:
Either through the menus or:
1. Turn the Moto Q off
2. Hold down the power button (hang up button) and the center key button (the button between the arrows) at the same time.
3. When the verizon logo appears on the device. Let go of both buttons.
4. A screen will come up saying to do a Master Reset. You will hit the left soft key to say yes to confirm.
Your Moto Q is now been hard reset ( Master Reset ) without having to go through the menu of the device.
------------
There's currently no other way to reset your phone without using the buttons so.
If you are having problems with your Q already (since they were just
released a few weeks ago), don't be afraid to exchange it for a new one.
The Motorola Q tech support line that I called was 1-800-657-7576.

Text message/Email is not working
I can help you with your Motorola Moto Q missing email menu problem.
What has most likely happened is that the firmware / system software of your phone has become corrupted. When this happens your phone will act erratically, freeze, or no longer finish (or even start) its boot sequence.
This is a very common situation with many phones; also with MP3 players, GPS devices and cameras.
The good news is that if you take your phone into your carrier's store, they can reflash it for you right there (if they have a competent tech handy.)
If you are comfortable with computers etc, you can also do it yourself. Your computer will communicate with and fix your phone, even though it doesn't seem to recognize it right now - I've seen this many many times.
My only warning for you is that if you are going to flash your phone yourself, you need to get the correct firmware from motorola's site for your carrier. I just downloaded the Verizon firmware as an example - Motorola's website has about ten different carrier firmwares for their MotoQ phone.
I hope that helps.
