Computer won't acknowledge my mp4

Try different USB cable. The possible problem you will have though is that I suspect you will need a firewire USB cable, which most of the Glaciers & lookalikes use, so it might not be as readily available. Does it charge ok via plug charger? Try switching off & on whilst connected to computer. Also try the control panel/system/device manager settings & see if there is any sign of it in there. What chips does it have (look under sticky paper under battery)?

Unlock code a1136 2065

MY FRIEND PURCHASED AN IPOD 30 GB A1135 AND WANTS

All iPod's are able to have music put on them using iTunes which is a free download from itunes.com. Depending on how the iPod was first setup, you might have to have it do a restore using iTunes to re-set it up if you are going from a Mac to a PC, but if it was first setup on a PC, it should be able to be used in iTunes on both systems. You might need to activate the iPod on your system to upload music to it though, which would take up one of your iTunes device activations.

iPod Symbol Meanings The Apple iPod personal media player uses a set of symbols to communicate what's happening to the device: when it needs to be recharged or when it's experiencing problems. Sometimes it's not obvious what these symbols mean; problems with your iPod may cause conflicting or confusing icons to be displayed. Folder with an Exclamation Point This suggests that your iPod can't read data stored on it. Your iPod may simply not have enough charge in its battery to read its hard drive. If recharging it doesn't help, you can try connecting it to your computer, then updating it with the latest version of the iPod's software. If none of this works, you may have a dead hard drive; your iPod will need to be repaired. Battery with an Exclamation Point A battery with an exclamation point usually just means that your iPod needs to recharge. Once the battery has charged up again, everything should be fine. You can charge an iPod through a FireWire connection to a computer, but not if the computer is in sleep mode or switched off. Third-generation iPods cannot be charged via USB 2; later iPod models can, however. If you are having problems charging your iPod, try switching cables. You can also try resetting the iPod by pressing Play and Select together (Menu and Play on earlier models). If none of these methods help, your battery may need to be replaced. Empty Battery If the battery icon shows an empty battery, this means that your iPod is almost out of charge and needs to power up. If you know that the iPod has been charging for a while, and the battery icon is still empty, you may need to update its software. Older software can lead to a confused battery readout. Wall Plug with Power Adapter This means that your iPod needs to be plugged into an electricity supply while it updates its firmware. You won't be able to do anything else with it until you do this. Frowning IPod Icon with an Exclamation Point A picture of an iPod with a sad face and x-ed out eyes plus an exclamation point indicates a very serious problem with the device. In some cases, draining the battery completely then recharging and resetting the iPod can offer a short term solution, buying you enough time to back up your iPod's data. The underlying problem will remain and is likely to get worse until your iPod is repaired. Apple Logo A brief appearance by the Apple logo when the iPod is reset or switched on is normal and nothing to worry about. If the logo does not go away and the iPod doesn't boot up, there is a problem. You can often resolve this by putting the ipod in Disk Mode and then restoring or updating its software; note that you will lose all data stored on the iPod if you do this. If this doesn't work, your iPod needs specialist attention. Do Not Disconnect It is not safe to unplug your iPod when you see this icon. Wait till it goes away, then you can safely disconnect your iPod. Spinning Disk Icons The spinning disk and magnifying glass icon means that the iPod is performing a disk scan. If you don't want to perform a scan right now you can re-set the iPod; you'll see a disk with a cross when you stop the scan. If you would rather let the scan complete, you should connect the iPod to a power source as scanning drains the battery. If the scan finds issues but can fix them, you'll see a disk plus an arrow. If everything is alright, you'll see a disk plus a checkmark. If there is a problem that the scan disk function could not fix, you'll see a disk plus an exclamation point. You Itunes purchases have to be restored to the hard drive as well. Otherwise you will have to repurchase them. Itunes doesn't allow you to copy your purchased songs from your Ipod into the library on your hard drive. You can play them from Ipod as long as you enter you Itunes account information. Make sure your Ipod is set to manually manage music or you will wipe out the songs.

It directs you to the Apple support site because either the iPod software is corrupted or there is a hardware problem. You should try to reset the iPod (try several times). Toggle the Hold switch to on, then back to off (none of the red is showing). Reset your iPod Press and hold down the Menu and Select buttons for 10 seconds (until you see the Apple logo) If you can update/reload the iPod software, this may fix the problem with your iPod. If that doesn't right the iPod, then try to restore it (which will erase the entire iPod and reload the software) in itunes. It will not erase your itunes library, only the files on the ipod itself. I hope this helps and good luck. Please vote appropriately and leave a message.

Sound out of one speaker only

I think it's probably a damaged audio jack. If you're still in warranty, get it off to Apple. If not, you've got 3 choices;

1. Attempt to fix it yourself. I managed to get stereo again by opening the ipod up and inserting a staple in the bottom of the jack, to fit between the headphone and the ipod's audio input. This took some fiddling around, using tweezers, and will probably not last long if I take it out somewhere. I might attempt removing the audio jack and seeing if I can bend the metal connects for the right audio channel so they touch the headphone cable again. An alternative to this method would be to put some cardboard in the audio jack socket and adjusting it so that it brings the hardphones back into contact. Someone did this and posted the results on their blog, but I forgot the URL...

2. Buy a new audio jack and replace it yourself. There's an ipod repair wiki out there, and several of the replacement jack suppliers have detailed instructions. It's about 40 UK pounds for the replacement though....

3. Get someone to repair it. Expensive, about 60 quid, but perhaps worth it if you're scared of further damaging your precious beast.

Note though that there have also been issues with software updates and audio output, search the apple discussion boards for more details...

Ipod classic won't sync with itunes 10

Restarting your computer is often the solution when your iPod fails to sync with your iTunes music library. But if this fails, there are other troubleshooting steps to take. Recharge your iPod via a USB cable connected to your computer or AC adapter. b> Click the help menu in iTunes and check for updates. Follow the onscreen prompts to download and install the latest version of the software. Open the new version of iTunes. Click the name of your iPod in the source list and check for updates under the summary tab to update your iPod. Attempt to sync your iPod with iTunes. Slide your iPod's hold switch to the hold position and then to off. Press and hold the menu and center buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears to reset your iPod. Open iTunes on your computer and reconnect your iPod to try to sync it with iTunes. Restart iPod service b> Close iTunes and make sure your iPod is disconnected from the computer. Click the 'start' button. Click 'run' if using Windows XP. Type 'services.msc' in the run box in XP and in the search box in the start menu in Windows 7 and Vista. Press 'enter.' Scroll through the list and double-click on 'iPod service.' Click the 'stop' button and leave the properties window open. Connect your iPod to the computer. Open 'my computer' or 'computer' and look for your iPod listed in the devices with removable storage section. Click the 'start' button in the iPod Service's properties window. Open iTunes to attempt to sync your iPod. Close the iPod Service's properties window once your iPod has finished syncing. Resolve "Original File could not be Found" Double-click the name of a song in the iTunes program that failed to sync to your iPod. Click 'yes' or 'locate' to the message asking you if you want to locate the file. Navigate to the folder or directory location where the song is stored on your computer. Double-click the song file to select it and add it back to iTunes. Reconnect your iPod to the computer and open iTunes to restart the syncing process.
