Hi all, I hope someone out there can help me.

It's unclear where the sound is emanating or where it is lost in this scenario or even the type of connection you're using to carry it.

It almost sounds like you're using the TV for sound or it's in the audio path. The sound from any high end source should be processed by the SONY DAV as close to its original device as possible and not unnecessarily patched through the TV.

The TV only NEEDS Video. High-end Audio is wasted on it.

The symptom sounds suspiciously like a loss of data from the source to the Sony DAV.

Please clarify or establish that this does or does not happen without using the remote. Sometimes remote commands are heeded by unintended devices. Try to Pause/Play sequence using front panel buttons on the unidentified Samsung BluRay to eliminate that possibility.

Observe the indicators on the Sony for any clues when the problem occurs.

It does not switch on

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts and overloads by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Check for loose speaker connections as a root cause for intermittent shutdown.

Receiver error message reads: PUSH POWER

Hi, follow the steps below to troubleshoot if the word PROTECT or PROTECTOR is flashing on your A/V receiver display..

Check the speaker wires and speakers for proper connection.

Reduce the volume level. IMPORTANT: If the receiver is played back at maximum volume level, it may enter the protect mode. Maximum volume listening will cause the receiver to run very hot and may drain the output capacitors.

Disable the surround sound option if both the A and B speakers are being used simultaneously.

Ensure the top of the receiver has proper ventilation to keep it from overheating.

If the message only occurs when using a DVD player, the sampling frequency may be set too high. IMPORTANT: Some receivers provide compatibility with the higher sampling frequencies through alternate connections. Consult the owners manual for specific information.

Unplug the AC power cord for about 1 to 2 hours to reset the output transformers.

Take care
