Picture freezing and discoloration!
Hello,
This is due to a buffer issue, to be more precise, the signal that comprises the picture and the audio are streams of data that go into a buffer and then into the processor. When the signal is at the proper level and the stream is not corrupted the image on the screen is ok, but when the signal is not at the proper level and the data stream becomes corrupted the pre-processor throws parts of the data away, and feeds the rest into the buffer wich goes into the main processor. Herein lays your problem if the main processor rejects the data or the buffer runs out of data due to the preprocessor throwing away data also you will get the screen freezing and pixelation (the square blocked dsicoloration you are talking about).
Now that we know what the problem is how do you fix it. First of all I would suggest following the owners manual procedure on downloading the software patch/upgrade for this TV. Then after using the software patch/upgrade, see if this helps. If not then you have a hardware issue. I have seen this problem caused by dried out or damaged filter capacitors (thes capacitors filter the DC voltage and if they go bad ther could be a relationship between the "dirty voltage" and the corruption of your data.
I any event I would suggest that you have a qualified TV technician repir this TV for to avoid any damage that may result from a missed procedure or lack of TV repair knowledge.
I hope this helps,
Thank you,

42" HDTV line down the center
Michael from Queens, New York
Purchase a LG 42" HDTV connected it to Direct TV service, while on the regular service no problem, but went to upgrade to HD format TV developed a red line down the middle. Contacted customer service asks me to be at home when calling to trouble shoot problem told him the problem! People when talking to Customer service tell them everything what you see in back of TV any contact from Audio or video cables must be connect or tape off so it wont touch any metal back of the units. The results no more lines on TV. Enjoying the playoffs.

I have an LG 37LC7D. Never had a problem until
You have a component breaking down electrically, a dry joint on a circuit board or it needs a good cleaning of all the electrical parts. To fix the circuit board or components, you will have to take it to a TV repair store. But first, try cleaning it. Disconnect the electrical supply and take off the rear cover. Using a fiber dust remover or a vacuum cleaner, remove any build up of dust and hair from anywhere inside the TV, paying particular attention to the cooling fan intake and ducting. Be careful not to damage any fragile components .
Good luck.
HDTV and connecting speakers...
I have over 10 years experience in electronic tech support.
If your TV has audio output jacks on the back, then you don't need an amp or receiver. These jacks use traditional composite cables that are red and white in color. I'm talking about the same kind you use with a dvd player.
F.Y.I. A lot of TVs don't have composite audio outputs, but they will have what's called an optical audio output. That type has to be used with an amp or receiver because you can't plug that type of line into any speaker.
I hope I've provided you useful assistance and that this information
allows you to make an informed decision as to how to proceed from here.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.
When the TV is on, there is a bright crack in the LCD display
The short answer is yes, the screen can be replaced. The bad news is that the panel is not cheap. The part number is: EAJ36548001 and can be purchased from tritronicsinc.com for $1164.70 with a refund of $300 once the bad panel is returned. (shipping is extra)

Try One of your working TVS and connect it to your cable outlet of the TV that is having problems. If that TV Does not work then there may be a degraded fitting or the Leg coming of the splitter to that outlet could have a Low Signal Problem
Next Take the First TV that was not working properly and put it on the cable outlet of one of the TVs that is working properly and if the TV set works on that Channel then you know it is not your TV that it must be the cable
LG 42LB1DR OR LB1DRALCD 42"
I just went throught the same thing. It is the psupply. Have the 3 2200 capacitors replaced on PS. I just took out PS brought it down to a local place and 65 bucks it was fixed!.
LGE LCD Remote Control no longer works
Bad filters on the main board or a bad AUX REMOTE jack on the back of the unit (also part of the main board) re the cause of this problem.
Try plugging in any jack that will fit into the AUX REMOTE jack on the back and then pulling it back out. This may fix the problem or remove any dust that may have collected in the jack. If this jack has something plugged into it (or goes bad) the TV will no longer have remote control operation (because it thinks an external remote box is being used). If this does not work then the main board will need replaced.
Note, many repair techs will think the IR board is bad (the Infra-Red Receiver board) at the front of the TV, but this is usually not the case with this model.
Hope this helps, please rate my solution.
My LG 37LC7D is not working
The white/yellow/red cables is solely your DVD to TV cable connection, If you play a DVD do you get the DVD picture? It looks as if you do not have the connection from the cable going into your TV input (aerial connector). If this is connected then you have to retune your TV. this is done by the Menu-set up button on the remote.
Tv sound
Are you using an HDMI cable from your cable box to the TV? I found that the sound greatly improved and volume control was better after switched to an HDMI cable. Originally I was using component cables that were supplied by the cable company. Note: I bought my HDMI cable on line for $10. I've seen the same cable in the store for $35.
